Due to a few of the comments, I feel the need to address this: I went to Koh Tao in April 2018 with no knowledge of any murders. I edited this video a few months later with zero knowledge of them as well. I can tell you that, even as a solo traveler that engages with locals and other people, I never felt unsafe or that anything on the island was sketchy at all. I now understand there have but nine suspicious deaths in 5 years, but I don't think that changes anything at all. When you travel, especially alone like I do, you must ALWAYS have your guard up and prevent yourself from getting in uncontrollable situations. If you keep your eyes and ears open, be ready for any encounter and still enjoy where you are, you can travel most anywhere. At the end of the day, this is an island that receives hundreds of thousands of tourists and not Syria. - MT

“I went...with no knowledge of any murders.” Then you didn’t do your homework. “Suspicious deaths” is a laughable euphemism for outright butchery. And “Death Island” is a moniker all over the Internet. Suggest ya do at least a quick Google before your next “in-depth” exposè of a travel destination. 🙄 Just one of many write ups available to anyone who can operate a simple search engine: www.strangeoutdoors.com/true-crime-in-the-outdoors/tag/Cases+on+the+Death+Island+of+Koh+Tao

Im thai and I’ve been there about 3 years ago. the local said to me “you dont arrive koh tao if you dont do scuba.” And thats true. Theres a shark beach full of medium size non-agressive shark. You can actually feed them. And whats interesting is that you could spot whale sharks typically since they’re rare in this region.

Thank you for putting up content which is informative and visually breathtaking! I am planning my trip to Koh Tao, and by far this is the most well produced video I have seen so far. A lot of videos I have seen show what they did, but fail to give out details, or naming places they visited making it just a movie, which defeats the purpose of vlogging! Keep up the great work!

@@idontcare1481 Hey, I went to Koh Tao in the month of December, 2019. Spent a month over there. Did not see or observe anything untoward or criminal happening. However, I was not traveling alone, we were group of 4, we had booked accommodation through Agoda, and stayed in two beaches, Sairee Beach, and Mango Bay. We also hired scooters from stores around Sairee beach. Again, my experience is subjective, coz of the choices we made. We did not branch off to lonely places in the middle of the night, or go out of the way to get some ‘adventure’ I can’t comment on any criminality/mafias on the island coz I didn’t see anything. But an sure, just like anywhere else, it exists, but it is not something you will encounter in your regular tourist activities. Koh Tao is a beautiful place, and deserves a visit.

Hi Travis I think most people will respect you for admitting that you were ignorant about the many murders on Koh Tao when you visited and even later when you edited your video. I’m glad that you decided not to delete the comments from people who tried to warn your viewers that the place earned the tag of “Death Island.” Some victims on Koh Tao get raped or murdered even when they do keep their wits about them. Date rape drugs do inhibit one’s ability to take defensive action. The truth is that both Heaven and Hell can be found on Koh Tao. Anyone who thinks otherwise is simply not paying attention. I have listed 17 foreigners who died on Koh Tao since 2012 (other than those who died of natural causes). They were not all murdered. Some were killed by boats or died in avoidable diving or snorkelling accidents. Forgive me if this seems “spam like” but the list can be found here: m.kzitem.info/news/bejne/tW2utKR_qJSIY5w I like your writing & editing skills but I hope your research
