Koken definitely seems to be getting a lot of love lately, but it looke well deserved.

Nice video I also have a Ko-ken Z-EAL 3725Z 72T, but I prefer this 3753N to the 3725Z unless there is an extremely small work space or other reason. The ratchet sound and metal knurled grip feel nice. 3753N is a tool with a very long history, but not many people feature it on KZitem, so I'm happy to be able to see it here.

That is a real workhorse of a ratchet! It reminds me of the old Proto design. The handle is certainly unique. I wish more manufacturers offered ratchets with the knurled handle. I picked up a Bench Top ratchet at the flea market last summer. It has 20 teeth. The pear shaped head is exactly like the Craftsman ratchets circa early 80s design but with a round shank and knurled handle. Unfortunately the back drag is excessive. That Koken appears to be silky smooth. My old 20 tooth Snap on is well broken in and relatively smooth. I have several different length ratchets. I use a long handle ratchet to break loose oil drain plugs. I use a standard length ratchet to tighten the plugs so I don't over torque them.

Old proto design are very nice! The back drag is suburb on this koken, and the knurling is the nicest I've ever felt in my hands!! Sounds like you have quite the collection of ratchets yourself!! After the ratchet screwdriver video, I'll show all my 1/2 ratchets then all do everyone I own in one video!! Not sure how many I own but it's a big #!!

@@jefftovani5535 At this time I have a total of 26 ratchets. Out of the 26 I have one Snap on 3/8, a Matco flex head 1/4, 3 Craftsman USA made and a handful of New Britain USA made Kilness patent ratchets. The rest are various Taiwan made units.

Koken makes a quality tool. I have a nice impact driver. They call it attack driver lol. It’s a nice tool though and very well made.

Nice knurling job on the handle? They didn't do any extra machining under the lever, but went all out on the handle and knurling, which is more important in my opinion? Great quality unit for the price, Jeff?

Yea, Dave same thoughts here!! Knurling is superb, the chrome by the reverse lever, not so good!! I was surprised by that!! But the back drag, is excellent!! Overall nice piece!!! Thanks Dave for your knowledge and wisdom on tools!!

That handle looks nicer than their soft grip handles. It appears longer. The videos Iv seen with the comfort grip it just seemed like a very stubby handle but on this version it looks nice. I have an old napa usa ratchet that’s 24 tooth. It’s in the 20s I can’t remember exact either 24 or 26 tooth. I thought it was 36 till I counted it. It’s a clunker like the rest of those old ones! The new made ones like this are so much more solid. I must of got lucky with my Williams the back drag on mine is nice. Iv had worse! I felt the 3/8” Williams at the local dealer and the back drag felt unreal just seemed too stiff so I just stuck with the 1/4” I picked out.

You need to try the Koken Nut Grip sockets, they do a great job of holding the fastener without a magnet loading the socket up with junk

Hi don,the koken ratchet has less back drag then the nepros, but its damn close!! i like the koken ratchets better then the nepros, nepros are the best chrome finish, bar none, but the kokens are a little smoother gears and backdrag!! the knurling on this koken is subpurb!!! the best knurling i ever seen!!
