I bought this case after seeing this video and have it in use for a couple of months now. It's a really awesome case for a lot of reasons. Airflow is so good that you would need to try hard to keep the heat inside ;) Also the extra width makes cable management almost obsolete which can be a relief if you want to change stuff regularly and don't want to spend time to make all the cables fit. You just can make as messy as you want since you won't see any of it when the sideplate is installed. And indeed the options of this case is amazing espescially for fans there are quite some interesting options possible. Even with all fans installed running at max speed the sound is not as disturbing as i had with all my previous casings. 9/10

Great video. I recently bought this case for my daily driver (3700x/GTX 1060 6gb) on the strength of your review and couldn't be happier with it. I bought the non RGB version for under £40, as I had a couple of Noctua NF-A14's and a NF-P12 collecting dust. With these installed the airflow is awesome and my temps have significantly dropped across the board compared to the Antec P50 it replaced (which had restrictive front airflow). It's also surprisingly roomy allowing me to fit a Noctua NH-C14s cooler with ease, as well as multiple SSD's and 2x HDD's. It looks great as well.

I recently got this case - the biggest issue I have with it is the SSD mounting, it's very hard to mount them and insert the cables. If you cable them first and screw them in afterwards it is easier, however right angled cables would probably be the best solution to this. Overall it's a very nice case to build in and use - I've even removed the tempered glass as I don't trust myself to not shatter it with the case on the floor. Brilliant review thank you for highlighting it to people :)

Nice, was really waiting for somebody to review this case. Mike, which one would you choose and why between this and the Gamemax Kamikaze Pro you also reviewed? Seems to me in both cases the custom rgb/fans connectors and the possibly loud fans may be the weak point, even if they add a lot of value. I'm really debating with myself between this or the kamikaze with rgb fans, but for the sake of quietness I'm also wondering about getting the base version of this, mount all AC fans and cooler, and just add a couple of led strips for a more subtle old-school lights effect.

Hi Mike! A very good review. I bought one of these puppies and am generally very happy. I think it didn't come with the motherboard argb passthrough cable (the socket was empty on the green pcb of doom), I might have thrown it away, though I've still got 20 year old scart cables kicking around so it seems unlikely! Have you any idea where to get those weird 3 pin rgb 5v cables/converters as I'd like to connect to the mb and/or add an rgb strip to the controller.

Great review of a case I was hesistant about becuase the brand is unfamiliar to me. Unfortuately the only version I can find available in Argentina is the RGB version. I want to swap out the fans and put non-RGB 2x140s in the front and a 140 in the rear, all of which would be connected to the motherboard. Can those front 140s be installed outside the case? If I wanted to sell or give away the fans I'm assuming it would be either necessary or best to include the green PCB controller, but perhaps I shouldn't make that assumption and the fans would work fine in another case without it? If it's necessary, is the PCB controller removeable, and if so, easily done without risk of causing any damage to wiring, etc? Also, since I am still in the planning stage, given the choice between the Citadel and the similar Tecware Forge M, which would you choose, assuming the Forge M can also do 2x140?
@mikesunboxing
3 жыл бұрын
yes you can remove the fans and controller to sell on if you want to and the fans will fit in front on the metal if you want to. I would go with this case or the very similar 1st player dkd3a that we just reviewed it is a bit cheaper here and the same chassis
@christopherbaadenfotografi2304
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the quick reply. 1st Player isn't available here and after viewing your review on the Tecware Forge M I decided the Kolink Citadel is probably the best option for me since I want to put two 140s in front, which looks like it would leave a gap if done in the Forge M and better pulled off in the Citadel. I believe I read a comment where you said when you still had the case you had two 140s in the front and one 140 in the rear, and I'm assuming nothing at all up top. Sounds like a good starting point (and hopefully best configuration) since I'm not doing any water cooling and will be cooling a Ryzen 5600X with a Thermalright Peerless Assasin 120. Looking forward to watching more of your vids.

I might be a bit late to this reply, but someone might find it useful. I've been looking at this case specifically because my current mATX won't fit almost all 3080s. This Kolink case supports up to 345mm long GPUs so should have no issue with any 3080 or 6800 XT on the market. Great review - ordered one and just built it up. It was easy to build in despite its small size and the airflow is great. Plugging the PWM cable from the fan controller to my mobo PWM SYS_FAN header resulted in quiet running, around 750rpm at idle on the fans. I'm not a fan of flashing / pulsing / garish RGB but I was very happy with the option of steady white LED illumination! The only problem I found is that the front USB3 ports have too high cable resistance so they don't power my external USB3 HDDs (works fine with USB flash drives). Worth noting that this case is the same as the 1st Player DK D3, which is £20 cheaper, with the following exceptions: the DK D3 has bad fans , with no PWM / speed control (daisy chained molex power!), and worse LEDs on the fans (in particular, the lighting pattern won't stay on what you've set it, after a system reboot, so you're stuck with a 80s disco every time you turn it on), and the DK D3 doesn't have the option for vertical GPU mounting (but why would you do that anyway and starve your poor GPU of fresh air). Oh, and for some reason the DK D3 has a nice metal catch on the glass door, whereas the Kolink has a naff bit of ribbon. If I ever get chance, I'd swap the glass doors over!

To test the i9-10900F I bought I put it in a MSI Z490 after a bios update and it worked fine. Should I be worried about using a Z490 ?

Thanks for making my last comment at Mike bumbling half truths Kolink, that looks a good mATX case. I had overlooked it due to the stock photo resemblance to the 1st player DK-D3 offering in listings but that looks much better in your trusty hands. My next 4 builds are pretty much set just waiting for the poor postman to deliver 1st of Septembers haul. (got a few PSUs to get ahead of the curve, plus got a couple of RX 570 8gbs cheap open box jobs as mentioned on that other tube channel still not arrived yet among other niknaks like a couple of SP 240gb NVMe with blue label to try out) I was fine sanding black gloss enamel paint flat on 2 cases for the fairy case project through Saturday show, covered in non fairy dust so stayed clear of the keyboard. I have a white mATX build to do after those clear and was looking at the CIT Sauron or Kolink Nimbus as a second choice once clawing back some of the cash from those builds though might take a look at this pup instead now. PS hope you dialled back your 4000ghz RAM to suit the 1800mhz x2 = 3600mhz - 3800mhz max if you can get to 1900mhz infinity fab clocks. OR try get some SP X-POWER RGB to review not seen any of that in the flesh yet. Only the blue heat spreader kind which was a little overpriced on 16gb 3200mhz kit on amazon at £120.... but the 16gb 3200mhz RGB kit was sub £80ish and was told by the unnamable it might be the fabled B-die on those pups. (I'm stocked with cheap Adata XPG 3200 and almost every drone wants corsair LPX 3600 in their builds for whats on my Aunt Mable right now) I wouldn't mind seeing that RGB in action and getting your humble and humorous take on it. Not long now for the crimblebling orders to start coming in.

Also, Mike - although I didn't have a problem with the fan / ARGB controller, I'm pretty sure it's EXACTLY the same as the Gamemax controller you recently panned (only without the plastic shroud that comes on the Gamemax), correct me if I'm wrong. Also, for anyone interested, the fans on the Citadel RGB are the same as the ones that come in the (£35) Gamemax 3-in-1 Kit.

Hi Mike, i bought this case back in 2020 from your review. Its a great case but although the fans are still working fine the rgb has gone haywaire, they are just stuck on multicolor flashing mess, and even pressing the cycle button on the case does nothing. Do you know of good and compatible replacements?, one that will still utilise the cycle button on the case etc?
