On 30th May 2024 I had the opportunity to visit Darjeeling after 27-28 years. Last time I was in Darjeeling when I was in class UKG or I, I don't remember exactly. The journey started from Kolkata where my HO is based. Me and my office colleagues met at the airport early morning from where the vlogging begins. We were 15 people together. We travelled to Bagdogra, nearest airport to Darjeeling. From Bagdogra we hired 3 Toyota Innova Crysta cabs which were very comfortable even though we were packed with luggage. First stop after Bagdogra was Kurseong. A very beautiful hill town with scenic view. There we visited Castleton Tea Estate Hanuman Statue. After that we climbed Dowhill which is considered to be haunted by a headless child. Things I saw was empty alcohol bottles littered here and there. Climbing the Dowhill surely made us hungry, hence we visited the Kurseong Tourist Lodge Restaurant. Food is good here but do try the local dishes like Thukpa, Momos etc. Don't expect Hyderabadi Biryani as this may disappoint you. Once we were done with lunch we headed towards Darjeeling but made a stop at world famous and heritage tea lounge ''Margaret's Deck'' which dates back to 1862. Everyone tried tea there and enjoyed the view. Personal suggestion, do try their chocolate brownie. Finally our cabs reached its destination with the passengers (us) to Hotel West Gate Pasoda, by Summit Hotels. Staffs are warm and welcoming, rooms are cosy and services are good. Stay tuned for the next part where we explore the Mall Road and try the softy at Keventers, Darjeeling.
