What I love about Komatsu is that the cabs are nearly identical regardless of the machine's size. If you run a small one, you can get into a big one and be productive and comfortable in short order.

@specialks1953 He is padding himself in. Going back and forth a few times helps solidify the ground underneath you. In wet ground you might not have so much luck backing out. The first lift does usually not end up being the productive one, but it sets you up for the following lifts. A properly cut in first lift gives you a great base to work on.
@levijones1874
4 жыл бұрын
vantagetes so like. First lift is to cover the pipe(hand work and hoes) 2nd lift is to Secure the pipes safety (hand work and hoes)then your productive lift are put in with a Blade? Ever Foot you either roll it or like you said solidify the ground?

Not a bad job however I like to go a bit heavier in this case so you're a bit higher up on the V shape for the first lift in the trench so you won't be cutting out the sidewall. Cutting out sidewalls has got to be one of the greatest causes of settlement because the packer can't pack horizontally unless you have it sloped at least a bit and that's where the V in the trench is helpful. Buddy there was cutting into the bank a little for extra dirt instead of pushing more in from up top.

What’s the current opinion Komatsu dozers vs cat and Deere? I have always had cat and some Deere. Had a Komatsu back in the 80s...had lots of issues such as soft uc metal, final drive, leaks and parts availability issues. But that was then. What about now? I may be looking at getting a small crawler in the d5g or d5k size range. I’d almost consider a d39 or 650 Deere. I’m in North Georgia. I’m not happy with deer dealer and parts although I like operating a 650. I am not buying new. I am an owner operator and it’s more than performance. It’s about being able to work on it, cheap parts, aftermarket choices, mechanic familiarity, parts availability, good dealer, toughness, and long term value. I can even stomach steering clutches if necessary. A good condition d4h? A front radiator model d39? Or just a d5g and go with it? Thanks!

We had a D65e Komatsu grapple when i worked logging. Only thing the boss didn't like was it was too fast in high gear. In fact he bolted it off so UT wouldn't go into high gear, to keep operators from running it and destroying it on rocks and everything. But if you tried you could get it into high gear. Course we would just put them in neutral when skidding logs downhill on those long runs. Ever out a dozer in neutral and fly downhill with thousands of pounds of trees shoving you downhill, especially on snow in the winter. Tell you what, it's crazier than any rollercoaster ride you ever had. Wanna see some crazy dozer operating go find dozer operators working steep ground logging in the mountains

The company was called Acco, an Italian manufacturer. I don't know if it really qualifies as "retired" . You can't retire if you never worked to begin with. In size it was the biggest yet it never moved any dirt. Built for a large project in Lybia ,trade embargoes kept it from being delivered and doing any work at all. Not only did it never work, but the total production number is "1". The Acco Super Dozer was made with mostly Caterpillar parts. The dozer is in storage at the parent company Umberto Acco's property somewhere in northern Italy.
