I wonder if the boss fight against those two goons outside of Moe's Tavern in Simpsons Arcade were an intentional nod to the Rude Bros here. They have the same gimmick, similar visual design, both fought within proximity of bars, and I think both games came out in '91 as well. Wouldn't put it past Konami, given how often they'd pull those kinds of little parodies across their portfolio.

I used to play Crime Fighters as well as this, when it came out. Crime Fighters is interesting, it's good in a pre-Final Fight way (meaning it's good compared to Bad Dudes), but pretty basic by modern standards. Vendetta had a good mix of objects and enemies, and a much better variety of moves. One thing I recall that Crime Fighters did that few others did was to indicate that you should kick your downed enemies to beat them faster with text and a flashing arrow, so that's a running theme between them. Worth a look, but this is the better game in every way.
