After months of looking for a reasonably priced one, i found a blue Konica Pop and it's a blast to use. It's definitely the best looking camera i ever had. I just needed to replace the light seals, everything else is smooth sailing. Your video is very helpful in making me comfortable using it.

Excellent overview of the Konica Pop, I have been looking at them for a while on Ebay, Aesthetically, I like the look of the camera and simplistic functionality. I own the Konica C35.

Thank you, thank you very much, you gave me life to my green konica pop that I have, that I always think about selling it or giving it to anyone who knows that I have it from my uncle who gave it to me gave a gift with the original case in real japan engraved leather, really now I'm thinking of keeping it and even taking pictures with it that even I never took pictures with, thank you very nice of you to honor this camera who still resists in 2022 against smart phone devices 🙏🏻

Picked a black one up years ago in a charity shop. Always loved the design. An evil part of me wonders how simple it would be to extract the lens and adapt it to one of my mirrorless cameras? Not sure I can bring myself to do that though. Mine still works, although I never shoot film anymore.

Hello Clifford Chiu, Thank you for your comment and subscribing, much appreciated. I always feel my videos go on too long but 30 mins on basically a fixed focus, fixed exposure camera was quite a bit even for me. When I look at the stats most people seem to stop watching most of my videos not long after I put the batteries in! I'm ok with that if it helps someone out but I do wonder what the other 20-25 mins of my videos are for! Its nice therefore to see your comment, thanks again. Kind regards MVC

Had one back in ‘92 in red and took it clubbing in Glasgow. Mum won it in a competition - now sadly lost. There’s are like a cult now- going for £140 on flea bay and beyond - crazy!

Hello Alan, Thank you for your comments and sharing your Konica Pop memories from Glasgow, out clubbing is exactly what this camera should be used for! You are right the price for used Pop's has become overinflated but if you look far and wide enough some can still be had for a fair price especially if bought as part of a "job lot" of cameras.

Hello Jari Karppien, Thank you for your comment. That sounds like a steal, good job! Interesting it only has the two ISO settings, I don't think I've ever seen that. Maybe it's a super early production version? I hope you enjoy your POP. Is taking photos with one these "popping" I wonder. All the best MVC

Hey there! Awesome video, thank you so much. I've got a question about how you changed the aperture via the iso ring - as I'm close to purchasing and this is really likely how I'll operate it. I just don't quite have my head around how the film stock would affect this? Say if you operated this way using 400 ASA stock vs 100ASA stock. I hope that makes sense - thanks again!

Hello There, I'd be inclined to stick to 400 ISO and regard the ASA settings as sunny, hazy and overcast. Kind regards MVC

Hi! I've having some confusion on which ISO to set for the camera. I'm using a Colorplus 200 film roll, how different would the pictures be when i use ISO100, 200, and 400 shooting at the same subject and same weather/lighting conditions? Hard for me to understand sorry still new
@mostlyvintagecameras4323

Hello byt3, Thank you for your comment. 100ISO will make the image brighter. 400ISO darker. so on a brighter than average day you might consider using 400ISO. on an average brightness day 200ISO setting and in shaddow or overcast conditions 100ISO. You seem to be in the UK so brighter than average days are going to be rare. All the best MVC

Hello Triggy, Thank you for your question. It's not a situation I have come across so I don't have a specific solution for you. Perhaps contact a camera repair shop? As a last resort you might want to consider getting a Broken one and transplanting the cover. Good luck MVC

You could get some sticky velcro tape, and make velcro strap to hold it closed. Still a bodge but more elegant than gaffer tape.

I am brand new to film and your video was so helpful!! Just bought a Konica pop off of Etsy for about 60 USD (including shipping)! I also ordered a basic 3 pack of fugifilm 200 because I felt that iso was most appropriate for the fixed shutter speed, but do you have any other film recommendations for this camera? Also have you tried pushing/pulling film on this camera? thank you so much for this video :)
@mostlyvintagecameras4323

Hello Nicole, Welcome to the world of POP! Personally, I would generally err toward 400 ISO but it depends where you are in the world but even in the UK 200 should be fine, but I would be minded sticking to the 100ASA setting to be sure. Push processing can be handy in an extreme circumstance (you took a bunch of photos knowing the low light warning LED was lit, then maybe...) but I would not see it as a normal practice generally as it causes a loss of quality. Enjoy your "new" classic camera MVC

Hello there! I'm unsure if you will even see this comment, but I wanted to thank you for the best-detailed video! It was truly so helpful to me, who has never earned a film camera before. I'm now all set and ready to shoot on my Red Pop! However I wanted to ask something, my version has only ISO/ASA 100 and 400 selection (I'm not even sure I know what it means hehe) and I have the film Kodak 200, is that okay? Should I shoot on 100 instead of 400? And for the next time, should I buy 400 film? (not sure if that exists haha). Anyways, thank you so much in advance if you do respond! Have a beautiful day!

Hello Mirella Barros, Thank you for your kind words, welcome to the world of Vintage Cameras. If you have a 200 ISO film I would set the camera to 100. When buying film going forward I would suggest a 400 ISO film if you can get them. All that being said a lot will depend on the weather, if you have a lot of sunshine 200ISO would be fine as well. I this is your first film and it does not come out how you hopped please persevere and try to learn from the suboptimal results. All the best MVC

Hello Gustavo, thank you for your comment. i do not have a quick fix I'm afraid. personally I'd keep using it for ambient light but if you really want the flash up and running it's going to be a trip to the repair shop. most damage is going to be done by lesking batteries. might be worth trying to clean the contacts. Hello Milosz, Thank you for your comment. I feel as these cameras are now around 30-35 years old it would be a little unfair to call a fail point a Bad Design", they have worked hard for decades they deserve to look a little shabby if they wish. I think this is the point they tend to crack eventually. Having said that if I were paying big money for one I would want it to be in great condition, mine came from a box of "spares or repairs" cameras so I feel luckky it works at all. Kind regards MVC
