Yup sadly the original horn section is gone, Ronald Bell, Robert Mickens, Dennis Thomas, Otha Nash & Clifford Adams 😔

What year was this performance? Maybe ’77 or ‘78, because the trombone player looks like a young Clifford Adams. I thought Otha Nash was still with the band during that time, right before the JT Taylor era. Who’s the other guitarist next to Clay? Is that a young Amir? I thought he was still a member of the KG’s in the late seventies? And lastly, since “Funky George” is out front who’s the guy playing drums?

to answer your questions: yes, this was filmed in ‘78, so that is indeed a young Cliff on trombone (although Otha is on the actual recording) i honestly have no idea who the guitarist is next to Claydes, because Amir (Kevin Bell) is actually on drums filling in for George Brown, who is indeed singing lead on this song. hope this helps :)

@@kiahshealy1003 I appreciate the info. 👍🏽The cameraman didn’t swing over to the drums enough to tell who it was, nor the other guitar player, but thanks.

@@acarterjazz the other guitar player might just be a keyboardist standing in, bc i know in ‘78-79 they had 2 keyboardists touring, which you can see in the “open sesame” video for this same tv station. and np, i’m a huge k&tg fan and it baffles me that this song wasn’t a bigger hit! it’s bangin!

With so many members, how the hell did they make money. By the time it was divided up, how much was left?
@kiahshealy1003

the members have talked about this in interviews before, during 1976-1978 they were actually LOSING money because of all the people touring and the fact that they had no hits… this song only charted at #19 on the r&b chart
