It usually always contains onion, tomato and cilantro (a common Mexican herb) but many like to add other herbs and veggies in. It’s also commonly used in normal salsa (just as normal ingredients and not adding pico de gallo), especially tacos, burritos, forms of salads, etc.

just something to note for y’all: mexican food is way more diverse than just quesadillas, burritos and tacos. each state in mexico you can say has its own unique food. for example, in the state of chihuahua, you can find quesadillas made with queso menonita, in the state of oaxaca, tlayudas are common and even eating crickets are common in the southern states. other than just horchata, which in mexico is made of rice rather than tiger nuts in spain, there’s atole and champurrado. ik this comment can be extremely long but there’s also tostadas, gorditas, tequila and mezcal haha, tacos de birria, enchiladas, pambazos in cdmx, etc. etc.

"Pico de Gallo", one of the sauces Natalia mentioned, literally translates to "Rooster's beak", but I think the most accurate way to translate it is "Rooster pecked". This has to has to do with the shape of the ingredients, which are finely chopped that ends up looking as if a chicken pecked at it. The ingredients are tomato, onion, jalapeño pepper or serrano chili and coriander. Really easy, fresh, simple and delicious sauce for tacos, tortilla chips, burritos, and practically almost every mexican dish. -Sincerely, a mexican :>.

She said we dont usually eat sour cream but we do- We actually eat/use it a lot 😭 And even when she said we don't eat tortillas alone, its true, but a thing we do eat them with sometimes is sour cream and salt.

Pico de gallo is a very common salsa thats translates to “ Rooster’s beak” because it’s normally not a spicy salsa so is being compared to a bite from a chicken.

The missing word she said was Pico de gallo pronounced (pico-de-gayo). A quick salsa made from chopped tomatos, onions, cilantro, jalapeños, lime, and salt. This salsa is loose, in other words it isn’t blended down into a liquid like other Mexican salsa. Hope this helps…

"Pico de gallo" is what it's called. Basically chopped onions , jalapeño/serrano and tomato and optionally cilantro and of course lime juice.

3:41 *pico de gallo* literally means " rooster's beak" but it is a mixture of chili, onion, avocado and tomato, very delicious.

The rice in burritos is a California contribution. We call them “Mission style” burritos after San Francisco’s Mission District where there are taquerias selling them everywhere and where they claim to have invented them. There are also a few places selling more authentic Mexican burritos with just meat and beans in them.

In my family, they would roll up a tortilla with a litte bit of salt and eat it like that or hand them to children especially when eating soup. If u had a salsa then you'd make a taco de salsa or if u had avocado you'd do that too. My mom even told me that her dad would bring baby avocados and she and her siblings would put salt on them and eat them just like that. 🥰

The burrito size depends on the region, in the north yes they are bigger, also at Guadalajara there was a place that served gigantic burritos

Actually Mexicans do eat cream, we even have Mexican cream that you can find in stores sometimes and we eat it with tacos and other food. I guess she doesn't eat cream? It's mostly preference but Mexicans do eat cream lol Also in our mole we don't make it out of chocolate. We just add a piece of chocolate in our mole so it won't be so bitter, I don't know if she didn't know this or just thought that he would understand but yeah mole isn't made out of chocolate.

Pico de gallo is one of many names, it can also be called "salsa bandera" which translates to "flag sauce. It has this name because of its colors are the colors of the mexican flag :D
