I find Korean skincare soooooo good! Especially their sheet masks! I truly believe it when people say that Korean skincare are 10 years ahead of western skincare, this is because my skin has better results when I use Korean skincare compared to western skincare. However, my skincare routine consists of half korean-half western skincare products
@lilybetancourt9028

Carmen K what products do you reccommend?!
@parismoon2130
6 жыл бұрын
I recommend the western brand ‘Simple’, it’s made for those with sensitive skin~ as well as, the body shop’s tea tree toner~ For Korean brands, I recommend the innisfree sheet masks (Shea butter: deeply moisturising, cucumber: hydrating, rice: purifying, tea tree: for acne, lime: good for making your skin less dull and helps treat your acne scars but I recommend using at night time, or use any vitamin C mask), Klairs’ supple preparation facial toner (it can hydrate even oily skin), Soon Jung’s pH 5.5 relief toner. I like to combine all of my facial toners together and place them in a facial spray bottle, I like to use it right after I shower. When taking off makeup, I suggest double cleansing~ I personally use a cleansing wipe and then micellar cleansing water afterwards~ I use these products since my skin type is dry in winter, combo in summer, as well as, sensitive, slightly acne prone, large pores, and I have eczema~

Cool video 💚 I’m a Latina teaching English in a couple Korean Elementary schools and the beauty standards are no joke. I’ve heard the darnest things from both students and colleagues about my curves, hair and complexion🤣Chiiiile let me tell u these beauty standards are wack and start at a very young age. Women having to weigh 50 kg or lower to be considered normal/ healthy is true. Found my fourth grade girls in the nurses room weighing each other. All of them are super thin except for Da-Hyeon - she is a solid healthy girl that would be considered skinny in the US. I could see it in her face that she was terrified of having to go on the scale. So, I jumped on the scale before the next girl and I said my turn! I shouted ohh 97 kilos ! I win! They all shrieked and I scooted them off to class. The look of relief on Da-Hyeon’s face was priceless. I’ve got another student I’ve been teaching since kindergarten. Super smart and vivacious little girl- I call her little miss sunshine. Well, she is chubbilicious and she is the only child in the entire school whose parents have arranged with the school that she must get half meal portions as well as strict fruits and veggies during snack time, all in effort to “ control “ her weight. I’ve seen her develop a weight complex in the span of 4 years and it hurts. I’m a vegetarian and eat my lunch in my classroom. Since she finishes her meal before everyone else she comes over to my classroom and chit chats away. I share my dessert with her sometimes and I tell her it’s ok. It’s heartbreaking when she has her bad days due to bullying/ teasing. I have her list all the names so that I set my older students straight. Now all my students know not to mess with her 🤣🤣 5th and 6th graders do wear a bit of makeup ( lip tint, glittery eye shadow and nail polish) and middle schoolers walk around looking like cherry blossoms/spring all year round 😬✌🏽

Tbh I'm a big kpop fan too but some of y'all kpop and kdrama fans are so obsessed with korea that you fetishize their culture to the point where you associate everything that has to do with korea with kpop and kdramas and its so cringy. What's more annoying is that most of them will never admit to being a koreaboo. If you have a fetish for Korean women or you OnLY LikE kOrEAn BOySs and try to imitiate Korean culture you're a koreaboo who needs to stop smh.

I really am starting to dislike international fans. These "fans" claim they love Korean culture from watching kdramas and listening to kpop songs, then proceed to accuse and lay down judgments about a country that they've never been to, don't speak the language of, etc. It's becoming way too much.

Manya I agree, I mean just because you love kpop doesn't mean you have to obsess over everything korean. Now I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything but I don't think that having a thing for korean boys makes you a koreaboo. At least not to a certain extent. I think a lot of people have a preference, but if you're stuck on that whole "I'll only date a korean boy" thing then you're being too obsessive. I don't mean to start anything I just wanted to share my opinion 😊
@lauraroabu
6 жыл бұрын
I agree but disagree. Obsessing over a country just because a group of people are from there and looking for the natives to be all about them is weird. You shouldn’t assume people like the group just because they’re from the same country. At the same time however, I started to like South Korea because of BTS and so started to learn the language and culture- not because BTS is from there and I need to feel connected to them in some way, but because they introduced a culture and language to me that intrigues me. So all I’m going to say is that not ALL people are OBSESSED over Korea because of things like that, but most people are interested in it.

Yeah, the pressure to be pretty is definitely there. I've noticed myself focusing a lot more on how I look than I usually do, after getting into kpop and stuff. It kind of bothers me how it's always at the back of my mind, even though I know I should love myself and the way I am.
@wilynakarenina6712

I'm chinese and the pressure to get skinny body are real, it was like planted in my brain by the society and chinese celebrity have unrealisticly skinny body, when i was 12 my grandmother said that I'm fat and i started to over think about it and starving myself, I'm 15 now and i eat once a day everyday because of that, i always feel tired and hungry but the pressure is from myself :'((
@MSdEExo
6 жыл бұрын
please don't starve yourself :( its the worst & most unhealthy way to 'diet/lose weight'. i know that unfortunately the social standard & mean comments family make can really negatively impact our self imagine but listen, the people we see on tv/internet like celebrities are not the average & we shouldn't compare ourselves to them. when you don't eat you're not getting enough nourishment to keep your body strong & its making you weaker. think of it this way, when you finally have that one meal a day, your body will desperately hold onto the tiny amount it gets & will make you bloated, doing the opposite of what you want. if you truly aren't happy with how you look and are really determined to lose weight i hope you consider working out as a healthy alternative. if you're not into weights & running you can always try fun dance videos (like me!) or sports? & if you're not comfortable having 3 big meals a day yet, you can have 6 smaller portioned meals throughout the day (like 'snacks'). also remember to eat your biggest amount of food earlier in the day (breakfast/brunch) that way you burn the calories while you're moving/walking around all day long. remember that a strong mind, body & soul are the MOST beautiful features a person can have. food is fuel! & feeding your body the proper nutrients it needs will give you more energy to go out & live your life to the fullest & happiest :)

I go to Target and the little girls section, I thought "Korean women would fit in some of those sizes" or "Korean children would find that too big on them" Not because of the obesity but because westerns are taller and bigger, I just find that neat how it differs.

You say that as if Koreans raised by white people aren't shown any exposure to Korean culture in their life. Look up Korean adoptee camps. Meet some adult adoptees. I was taken to Korean church and I was given books in hangul and taken to Korean restaurants. There were Korean flags hung in my house and we even had a 1st birthday (dol) hanbok. Maybe it's not much but it is still something. Please don't assume things about me just from looking at who raised me. Koreanness isn't something that is purely cultural anyways. In multicultural places like America it can mean a lot more.
