So, it cannot be equated to slavery. Yes, it was one of the worst inventions of the human mind, but you have to understand that the system was far more complicated than that; if it was really as cruel as Western historians have generalised it to be, it could not have stood the tests of time, would have been overthrown with brute force of masses during its 4000+ period of existence.

I also find it ironic that South East Asians get looked down on for being a poor / undeveloped region (because of US imperialism) and here is a Filipino American looking down on a communist country because of stereotypes that communist countries are poor (because of US imperialism). Japanese racism is polite. You wouldn't know what they're thinking since they have the grace to kept to themselves in the presence of someone they don't like (prohibiting foreigners from entering their store is the most extreme, but there's reason for that, and it's on the bad behavior of foreigners so can't complain about it). Maybe you will feel alienated, but it's better than hearing insult about you, your race and your country in front of your face. I haven't yet encountered blatant Chinese racism in the social medias, though (I should see more videos, I think). I mean, all the foreign people visiting there seem to be pleased enough. And this country have minorities with faces wildly different from the Han Chinese. So they probably more tolerant (especially if you can speak Mandarin). I might be wrong and maybe there are racism somewhere (billion of people without prejudice seems to be impossible).

They would ask from where i am and when i say “Philippines” they get kinda shocked then would ask if im pure filipino. One korean older woman when she asked and i told her i am filipino she got shocked and said i am too pretty for a filipino. Wooooowww just wow the audacity of some koreans who look down on us SEAs. I have a few korean friends and they are kind. I am sure not everyone there is racist but generally they are i guess. Plus South Korea population is declining fast its hard to keep up competing with these rising ASEAN countries. Here's a story I will tell you. There were a group of Koreans in Vietnam at a restaurant. And guess what. There was a group of Aussies and white people at another table. The Vietnamese servers only serviced the white group first even though they came later. And they ignored the Koreans and the Koreans were angry and mad because they thought that they were somehow superior to the Vietnamese and southeast Asians. It was at that moment that they realized that the Vietnamese did not see any difference between Asians. And Koreans realized that they were still garba*e compared to white European people. This was perhaps one of the most hilarious moments I witnessed
@RjlpqeQs

I am laughing at you and your thinking level. So tell me. Did you think it was right thing to do to ignore the people who came earlier and served those white group even though they came later? What made you think those Korean people were upset because "they were somehow superior to the Vietnamese"? What's got to do with thinking superior to Vietnamese and asking for the right treatment? And did they say, they think of themselves as they are superior to Vietnamese? Isn't that natural to get upset when they were dismissed intentionally just because they are not 'white European', according to you? Is that how people think in Vietnam? So, you think white European people are better than Asian people so they deserve to be treated better and speedy in your mind? Is that why Vietnamese didn't fight when they were colonized by France? Where is your self esteem? Don't you feel you are the same as those white European people and you want to be treated as such from Korean? Would you be okay with Korean people serve you after the white European people in the restaurant, since you are less than white European people? Wow, is this cultural difference or your own self esteem issue? Have some pride in you, dear Vietnamese. you are a valuable person as much as any ethnic group. If you don't respect yourself, no one is going to respect you. What an odd imbalance in Asian people! Korean has too much high esteem and Vietnamese has too low self esteem. I pity your life. Love yourself, dear. you deserve as much as other people whether they are white or black or even if you are Vietnamese. As far as I am concerned, Vietnamese people I've met was very proud people. I thought they have very healthy regards about themselves. Did I misunderstand about Vietnamese? Don't go around embarrass your Vietnamese.

They have a good manner. the first time I met them was when I was 14, They were eating something at the table when I walked in, and they got up to offer me a seat and greet me. I was quite impressed. They speak English considerably better than I do, despite having never visited an English-speaking country, so for me being call chinese is a positive thing. I've been to japan and korean bc of my parent's job many times and the politeness of japanese are always nice but you will never know what they are thinking. The korean are very friendly, I've met only 2 female students who are really strange like she told me that she's a very jealous person and she try to do something which doesn't make sense in my country, but every korean men I know are really nice. I can see they kinda think girls are lower than them and they can do anything to them which ofc it's bad. The life in south korea can't be better than the current china. It's just impossible. in china, it's normal they would eat a bow of rice with pork, duck or chicken but in Korea many people even an international school will only eat a few piece of meat or sausage or egg with a bow of rice and a lot of vegetable. it's common that a meal will will have only vegetable and rice which from my experience in china, it's not enough for most chinese.

Had an encounter with those type of koreans kids here at the college I went to in Boston, MA. He was the type who would show off how rich he was by driving really expensive cars and wearing designers. Kid was a total Ahole. He didn't last long here in the States. He made news headlines for a Dui and resisting arrest. Following the semester, he was gone because his parents definitely found out.

I think its about time to look inside the region more that outside my fellow SEA-nas, its been centuries that we are treated like we are crap by those European and East Asian. Our kindness and humility always seen as weakness by those European and East Asians, until when we will see them as idols with their culture, and give them our admiration?. Its nonsense... Our own culture and our own people are beautiful don't need to admire those Hallyu's and KPOP, and JPOP... enough of being invaded! We need to rise and stand up for ourselves, have self respect and dignity!...

Well said my friend, the Korean War was considered the forgotten war coming off post WWII. Philippines was the strongest militarily and economically in Asia in the early 50's sending over 7,000 troops along with other nations help push the communists back to the north. Then even stayed to help re-build S. Korea. Unfortunately this was not explained well in S. Korean history in schools and the next gen forgot. I do believe the majority of Koreans are just fine; in fact, when I was in Cebu last year I saw so many Koreans adapt well in the Philippines, some even live and grow up there. The Philippines as of now is slated to progress from an agricultural to industrial hence improving its economy in the future. You're right, "Respect is the key".

Eventhough i'm never an anime fan or J-pop fan, not into Japanese culture related things, i want to say i'm very proud of those two especially anime for not only being worldwide famous, but being worldwide famous and actually having original identity, making fans in the western world submit to it instead of being the one who submits to western world. Basically, K-pop is mostly is them making the Korean version of what American-pop has. Kpop would've never been this big if it wast for western song writers/producers doing the magic for them.

This is such a dumb take. Firstly, while Japan undeniably has their own excellent nuanced art culture, the likes of J-Pop, anime, etc. are greatly influenced by arts from the west. A strong case for Korea having a weaker connection to their own culture at times might be due to the fact they had their arts heritage pillaged and nearly erased by Japan during their 35 year annexation until the end of world war 2. This is also combined with having to survive the completely devastating Korean War. For the record, Korea does have an amazing and unique art culture of their own. That doesn’t invalidate critiques around K-Pop sharing a lot in common with black American art like R&B and Hip-Hop, but it is so stupid to then say Japan is so unique when they have been doing precisely the same thing in their own pop culture. It’s honestly time for some of y’all to watch less anime and read more books

There was a case here in Baguio City, Philippines. A Korean family who have not obtained Filipino citizenship have obtained a house and lot by using the name of their maid. Foreigners cannot own real property here in the Philippines. This Korean family mistreated their maid and did not give her salary. She went to my teacher who is a veteran lawyer to file a case. The court awarded her the house and lot owned by the Korean family which is named to her. The maid then sold the property and ran off to Singapore.
