The time your spending with your children to educate them is something special. This is what all children need. Comunication, patients.respect.morals.goals, integrity, self esteem, independence, discipline. Teaching children to be leaders not followers. Education is needed not only for the children but also with the adults. I'm so glad they still have libraries around. What a great mom, have a happy, happy mother's day.❤🌹🌻🌷

WELL TODAY’S SOCIETY IS DIFFERENT WITH THE INCREASE OF TECHNOLOGY CHILDREN NOW A DAYS ARE GETTING THEIR FOCUSED AND ATTENTION TO SOMETHING ELSE: CELLULAR PHONES . THEY SPEND ALMOST ALL DAY DEALING WITH THE CELLS WAISTING THEIR TIME PLAYING GAMES . SO IN RETROSPECT THEY DON’ T WANT TO WORK MUCH LESS THEY DON’T WANT TO ADVANCE THEIR EDUCATION. YOU WILL NOT SEE CHILDREN TRYING TO LEARN ANOTHER LANGUAGE OR OTHER CULTURES. SO I GET REAL EXCITED WHENEVER I SEE CHILDREN LEARNING OTHER LANGUAGES. IT’S IMPRESSIVE.

I’m so happy to see that your daughter asked the stranger to not touch. I’ve watched many Black travelers endure the touching to not appear disagreeable. I think it goes both ways and others need to know the differences as well.

I’m biracial! Korean and Black! My mother is Korean. My mothers family did not accept us! Anytime we’d go back to Korea to see her family it was super uncomfortable! Strangers would walk up to us touching us, rubbing our faces or hair! My mother would pop their hand lol… I don’t have as much as my mother looks as much as my siblings so they were always so interested in me the most because I have more of my father features! So I totally get how you protect yourself and kids! I’m 29 now haven’t been back there in awhile !

I reckon its the same with her sisters family. The Korean husbands mom acts weird around the children. The entire culture is very cute but when you peel back the layers that level of EQ and human acceptance isn’t very high. Its a homogenous society, while us USA/Carribbean blacks are already multigenerationally mixed so we don’t care so much. Just do you and have fun when you do go!

As a mixed kid that was my experience every time I went into Bath&Bodyworks. And my family reunion on the white side of my family. We were the darkest there and some would outright refuse to take pictures or not even put an arm on the shoulder for a “ family “ photo. But my Great Grandparents loved us and to me that means more than any photo with a cranky small minded cousin

This is so great for your kids to see and experience at a young age. It's exciting to see you and the kids enjoying another culture :) and of course learning how to set polite boundaries :) I wanted to comment that after living for six years in Beijing, China with my black daughters, the reactions and interactions were very similar to the Koreans. There was a lot of curiosity and politeness around taking pictures. They rarely asked to touch the kid's hair and the kids freaked when they did so I would tell them politely not to touch the girls. Public tourist places were the worst because people from all over the world were there it was busy and crowded and the girls would get mobbed, so I didn't take them that often to tourist attractions like the Great Wall or Tiananmen Square which you really only need to see once. :) Eventually, the elders in the town where we lived would protect the children and would tell people in Mandarin not to take pictures or would scold them if they tried. The community really protected the girls as did their Chinese teachers :) and their friends :)

I totally agree with you. People have their own boundaries and must understand others have boundaries too. There should not be a precedent set or an expectation established that black women are one ( in opinion) in agreement and it is expected of them you can walk up to them and touch them.. I am not sure but I do not think it is okay to walk up to Koreans and start touching them. One of the reasons this has not been addressed is because so many people make excuses for it..."they dont mean any harm"...that might be true..but if we make excuses for people they will not understand that black people are not a monolithic thinking people...not everyone is okay with that. It ridiculous that people would conclude this is our culture and its okay to touch us. This has nothing to do with black cultural norms...nothing to do with culture This has to do with the individual. BLACK PEOPLE PLEASE STOP MAKING EXCUSES FOR THIS TREND. WE ARE THE ONES TRAINING OTHERS THAT WE ALL THINK ALIKE. THEY WOULD NOT DO THIS IF WE SPOKE UP...BECAUSE THE TRUTH IS..they are very nice in Korea...but they are straight shooters..so if you sign up to be treated like a pet how is that their fault.
