Very useful demonstration to get an idea of factual improvements compared to previous Grand stage.

Amazing!!! The time has finally come! Grand Piano, Rhodes, Wurlitzer and FM-DX piano - all in one in perfect quality. In my opinion, the currently unrivaled stage piano. And the beautiful design!👍👍👍

It is truly a great stagepiano. I also tried the new nord grand 2 - it is different but also great!

Yes, it's great, it also has an excellent Kawai hammer keyboard, but the sounds of the EP are not as faithful as the Korg.

In terms of acoustic and electromechanical sounds Viscount Legend 70's W [Wood] is the best, it is a totally different "animal". You can listen some videos on my channel, pay attention, it deserves!!!

I actually tried it at the show, but since it is not new, I didn’t record it. It sounded good, though.

Very curious to see how much you will be able to edit the piano sounds on this model. My Kronos also uses the same SGX-2 piano engine, and one of the things I really like is the ability to tweak the sounds a great amount. The user interface and display are dramatically different (more limited) on the Grandstage X, so I wonder if it will be more like the SV2 where there are only very limited editing options for the piano sounds. Thx for the video!

Yeah, will be intersting to learn more about. Must admit that I focused purely on browsing the presets at the tradeshow. :-)

Yes, with Yamaha’s Montage and Roland’s Fantom updtates, Korg’s Nautilus begins to look a littlw dated. Sure the will come up with something. :)

The Kronos was just fine - fiddle with that a little bit and put it in a slightly different case, and give it a better action and you’re done.

I assume at least some of these presets are just different EQ of the same samples? I’m not denying it has samples from multiple different grands, I’m just asking.

I wouldn’t know for sure, but I definitely assume the same. For instance, the ‘German Grand’ and ‘German Grand Dark’ likely build on the same set of samples. But I am not affiliated with Korg (or any other manufacturer), so I have no more details other than what is available online :-)

Where are the upright pianos? Or did I miss it?
@SoundsLikeThisGear

Sorry, no you didn’t miss it. I decided to skip them to not block the single demo unit on the stand for too long. Grands and vintage EP’s were the top priorities in this round :-) Would also have loved to include upright, clavs and organs. Maybe there is time tomorrow to catch up on some of them. But there are 700 presets on that prototype…! :)

I think I got through the entire Grnad Piano bank. I did a quick add-on with the Uprights, but forgot to vapturebthe preset names. But there is one that is clearly datkwr sounding than the others, but if it is felt I am not sure, unfortunately.

Can't demo a piano like this. Doesn't give me any information or sound samples I can use. The faster you play a digital piano the easier it is to get it to sound good. I can take a cheap Casio keyboard play the piano preset fast and have it sound as good as this Korg. Slow way down, 40-60bpm, play some chords at different velocities, at least 3 all the octaves with tied whole notes so we can hear how this piano decays, its string resonance, the character of the sample as it decays. And much, much more....

I don’t dissgree. But there are hundreds of sounds and you have people waiting to try it too. I blocked it for 20 minutes and wouldn’t have been fair to keep it for hours. I guess it is truly a prototype, as they only had one unit availabe for public demo. But you’re not wrong.

i agree but, no one brand make the kind of demo as i suppose that u (and me) would to know... like to hear without any effect and flat the pianos basic sound, even a single note and appreciate the key off or how reach is the sound (how tune was in original piano sampled, some time too perfect become cold sound) even the position of micro in sampling session , as the professional plugin... but most of users maybe would be bored

Absolutely! To be honest, it is a bit of a stressful environment to try to demo anything. In many cases, I had a demo band playing loudly right next to me, which meant I could hear a lot of music in the background while trying to play something myself. Plus, I more than once had someone walk right up next to me in no subtle way indicating that they would like to try it now. :-) Also part of the reason for the very brief takes on each individual preset.
