It looks like they packed a lot into this thing for 100 bucks, but being how it's digital, you'd think they could have gave it 3 voices or 2 or 3 oscillators. For those that make jam videos with Volcas and other mini synths, it's probably welcomed to use as an fx processor, for it's arp, and to get other sounds with the variable oscillators. It appears you could do pulse width modulation on square or other oscillators and/or wave shaping and control that with an LFO as it has 3 LFOs. That's pretty cool. I'm not opposed to picking one up for my birthday present to myself next month.

I've had a Korg Monotron and a Pocket Operator 28. I just can't seem to groove with small, limited functionality units like these. Just my opinion of course. The smallest I use is the Roland Sh-01a, anything less gets boring fast. Can't wait for my Nanoloop Hardware to show up though! Though I will say the reverb sounds nice on it.

Yeah, it's not for everyone. That's for sure. But I think that a Monotron isn't really the best device to base your opinion on. In my opinion, Monotrons are fun, but not very useful for making much music/ jamming. I feel that something like the NTS-1 or a Korg Volca, offer more of a musical experience and are much more "practical" for actual music making/jamming. Plus, the NTS-1 is definitely far superior than the monotrons in a lot of ways, while still keeping a tiny form factor and "diy" feel. But again, to each his own. Whatever works for you, man. 🙂👍 Thanks, for watching.

Can you explain your routing ? PO slave to nts1! but what about when you have the volcan bass and the sq1 ?
@littleBIGsynths
4 жыл бұрын
Just use the sync OUT of the NTS-1 to the sync IN of the PO (set to sync mode 2/ SY2). This is the same with the SQ-1. You can use either the Volca or SQ-1 as the master and the PO as the slave. You can use a PO as the master, but this becomes a bit more technical. So for simplicity, always keep PO's at the end of the chain. Check out my in-depth video of the PO sync modes if you are interested. 👍 kzitem.info/news/bejne/yIWJ22Vval9ng4o

Nice video btw. I am thinking of getting an NTS-1 (I already have an SQ-1) I have two questions regarding the use of the SQ-1 and NTS-1 together. 1/NTS1--> SQ-1 --> other gear? Will the sync out of the NTS-1 control the BPM of the SQ-1 (via sync in) and also allow the SQ-1 to control other gear through the SQ-1 midi out? 2/ If the SQ-1 midi out controls the NTS-1, will the NTS-1 show the BPM of the SQ-1? I have tried using my computer to control the SQ-1 through USB midi in but then I can't use the SQ-1 to control anything by midi out, unfortunately I don't own any CV in gear to control and am just stuck with nowhere to go!

I heard that The Midi to eighth-inch Jack that the NTS-1 requires to Have a midi port. Is a specific one that Korg only makes, is that true?
@JH-lo9ut
3 жыл бұрын
No. This is using the midi trs-A standard. Some brands have been uding using midi trs-B. The industry has recently agreed to dithch the trs-B standard from now on, but there are still new devices being sold that was built with the B type. Adapters should be avaliable for both types. The difference is that the White and the red leads are swapped in the stereo cable, so it is super-easy to solder together your own adapter cable, or you can get it to work by using two eight-inch to RCA cables, and a pair of RCA female-female adapters and connecting White to red and vice versa. (A bit messy, but it works)
