So the FM has arrived. My first question was: Can it do Dub Chords? Instagram: / lussdub Facebook: / lussdub Bandcamp: lussdub.bandcamp.com Soundcloud: / lussdub
the fact is that everything passed through a re-201 sounds amazing ...

Really nice sound! I have a Volca Sample and am thinking about getting a second machine for the chords/melody. It's possible to do that with the Volca Sample, but it's somewhat limiting. Which one would you recommend - the Volca Bass or the Volca FM?
@LUSSDUB
8 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I would take the FM or the KEYS, which is also very nice for chords, pads, leads etc. The BASS sounds very good, but you have more options with the KEYS and a better sequencer. This is the KEYS making chords: kzitem.info/news/bejne/uI2Is6uqqodqeaw And this is the BASS with chords: kzitem.info/news/bejne/0IOEm4Vmf6qanmU

Great Dub machine! Of the digital equivalents, which is the best replacement for the original Roland RE-201? The Boss RE-20 or the Strymon El Capistan?
@LUSSDUB
6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I don't know the Capistan but it looks nice. It also has more control options for the delay. the re-20 has the spring reverb like the original and i think this is part of the "space echo sound". but you can't control tape flutter or tape age. so if you want that spring reverb go for the re20. if you look for a nice tape delay, take the capistan. capistan + EHX holy grail would be an option too ;)

Hey, do you use this extensively? Do you have a hard time getting a clean signal from the volca fm?
@Decoy303
4 жыл бұрын
The Volca FM has a really clean noise floor. As you can see he's going right into the Space Echo. No preamp or signal precessor.
@danielmulholland5869
3 жыл бұрын
@@Decoy303 I reckon he probably means as a result of the frequency modulation. I've never used a volca fm but if the ratios aren't tuned (a la ableton's operator) than FM can sound like a no-sweet-spot synthesis for beginners. Unless the volca does jump between tuned ratios than nevermind

@@saren6538I bought two. Run them in stereo and I also thread the tape between the two machines for double tracker like effects. I am the most woke ass space echo user of all time. (One can dream) Actually I feel pretty covered in this territory with a strymon deco (you can get space echo like vibes running a mono pedal through the pedal in stereo/feedback configuration), Erica synths fusion delay/flanger and Erica spring reverb…. But I still probably need a space echo.

hey nym, thanks! well there is the korg stage echo and another one from evans, which have a spring reverb like the re-201. but these are rare too. you shure will find one for a good price if you search a bit and wait for the right time...well i'm not an expert, i bought one in bad condition:) it has scratchy pots. be shure that all tape heads work and have the same volume (you select them with the mode selector). And then the motor should run evenly, otherwise you have a lot of modulation...that's what i know....

the pedal emulates the sound very good but it's not the same, the original has more "space" due to its own behaviour. and the tape distortion like in 2:50 sounds very bad on the pedal. but it can do longer delays. i still use both...

hey, i was wondering how did you record this? someone told me that all korg monotrons, monotribe and volcas need a stereo to dual mono cable for recording it into any daw, is this true? i tested with my monotron duo and at first i was able to record it with a stereo minijack with stereo jack adapter but the second time i couldnt get any sound at all in my daw.(they told me that by using this cable i could eventually end up breaking something in my interface so i didnt try again) could you pls clear up this doubt for me? im going to buy my first volca next month and i want to know because my interface has only 2 inputs. Really cool sound btw, Thank you very much!

@@AnthonyMartinsRock ok, turn down the reverb and the intensity to 0, then send it back to the re20 via aux send. now the feedback can be controlled with the mixer (fader or aux send) and the signal gets eq'd every time it passes through -> nice filtered dubby delays;) search for "reel to reel delay" to see some explanations of this technique
