Volca modular seems difficult to understand, but if you take your time, you will understand it.The trick to understanding it is the design of the panel surface.The white boxes are inputs, the black boxes are outputs, and the circled areas are the audio signal i/o. Have fun! And also, it is fun to record environmental sounds with a binaural microphone!

Hey, I'm very interested in buying a volca modular, but I have a few questions. Is this video made with only the volca modular or did you use multiple synths? My second question is how much would you recommend this synth to someone who is looking to just use it for ambient music? I don't have anything else to combine it with so I'm wondering if it would be a good thing to buy to start making ambient music like this beautiful video. I want to make similar music like this video or make similar music like r beny, lightbath or even grayera. Would the volca modular fullfill these needs?
@carpediemMusica
3 жыл бұрын
beast-boy 934 1st answer: This video uses only the volca modular and delay pedal. 2nd answer: You might be disappointed with the volca modular when you think you'll use it for ambient music. It's a mono synth and It can only do simple things. If you want to use synthesizer, you might prefer KORG minilogue. (I finally got a little closer to ambient music by Eurorack, using two volca modulars.) Anyway, have fun!

JIDA hi. the volca Modular has a single sequencer. but it has two oscillators, two envelopes and two filters.so it can make two different sound at once. and outline of the patch -> Main melody {carrier OSC, left function, LPG1} - connect woggle-out to LPG1(level) via Utility module for thinning out note at the first half - connect function trigger-out to function trigger-in to sustain every note Chirping sounds {modulation OSC, right function, LPG2} - tuned 2 octaves and 5th above main melody - use function as LFO - connect woggle-out to function(time) thereby LFO changes speed every main melody notes

carpe diem yeah i get that but it sounds like the modular is playing two different voices independantly, while you have only one keyboard.. am i wrong? :s thanks for the reply
@OttosTheName
4 жыл бұрын
@@JIDAGRAPHY You could, for instance, have the clock devider send a pulse to one envelope every 4 pulses and send a pulse to the second envelope every 3 pulses. Then send 1 oscillator through the one envelope and the other through the other. This way sometimes both oscillators are playing the same thing, but most of the time they're not playing at the same time and they won't be playing the same pitches. Even when they play at the same time you can have 1 be tuned a fifth higher then the other or something. Not sure if that's what's going on here, the delay makes it all a bit harder to follow on the first listen, but there's probably a bunch of other solutions to having more then 1 melody playing.
