@@idahoplantguy9027 Hate to break it to you, but the intro isn't Joey - it's a sample. I think it's famous, but i can't remember why... Joey doesn't start playing until 11 seconds into the song.
@idahoplantguy9027
4 жыл бұрын
@@SR1Records Oh really? I didn't know that! I don't know why I said the part was in the intro either. The part I was referring to sounds like he's using a splash cymbal or a tambourine. Around the 0:57 mark I think?
@SR1Records
4 жыл бұрын
@@idahoplantguy9027 Do you mean 0.57 on Purity? If so that's a splash with the volume turned down. (I don't want to sound condescending at all, and maybe you know, maybe you don't, i don't know, that's why i'm going to say what i'm about to say) but each drum/cymbal is recorded with it's own mic. So at 0.57 in Purity, the volume of the splash is turned down to create a softer sound - which is why it could also sound like a tambourine (mother fucker tambourine - Chris Rock joke, ignore as needed, lol.) Getting back to the sound you're talking about - (i think) . The splash is played on the 'off beat'. I'm holding back from explaining what an off beat is because, you know, KZitem. And someone will say of course everyone knows what an off beat is. But if you're not a drummer (like me) then you probably won't know what an off beat is. But the splash is played on an off beat when it's normally played on beat so that's what makes it sound appealing in this case. Pre-edit - God, i sound like such a nerd! I didn't study music, i just like it and it's my passion.
