Curious what size you think I'd be on this bad boy? 6'1", 170/175 size 11 boot. In between the 156 and 160 but would love your opinion. Thanks!

I think you could do both. I think you would have more control and an easier time in uneven snow with the 156. Best choice as a daily driver. If you want extra float/speed but don't see a lot of messy/uneven conditions the 160 will feel amazing. It will just be very hard to handle for your specs when conditions aren't clean.

@@thegoodridesnow Thanks for the reply! For reference I live in Colorado, stay away from moguls and tight trees and mostly stick to groomers, little side hits and some powder when it's available. My style leans towards more of a surfy style so I love to carve and do big turns most of the time. With that info, would 160 be better with more stability? Thanks again.

Probably 156 would be better. I mean more messy snow from crowds and not so much moguls.

These boards like to be ridden bigger but it really depends on your ability level and what you plan to ride this in. If you are getting it for pow and clean groomers and have a quiver go 156. If you see a lot of uneven snow and want this as a daily driver maybe the 152 but it will feel smaller and ride a little different than we described. which size would you recommend purely for powder and rather quick narrow turns and slower speeds? I'm 6'0, 175 wit size 10.5. Already have Cafe Racer 159 but it feels to slow laterally in pow. thx

I would go 156 Dart and it's easier to turn in pow than the Cafe Racer. It floats a lot easier in pow as well. You might also like the Pintonic if you see a lot of deeper low angle pow.

Yep. That's the best size. It's a little much for 9's in uneven snow but I think it's worth it if you want easy float in deep pow and really good carves on cleaner groomers.

I'm looking for a new powder board that can carve well. I'm 5'6", 57kg, and wear a size 7.5 boot. Currently, I have a Stale Crewzer 151 as my all-mountain freestyle board. I'm considering the Dart 47, Dart 52, and Pencil 53. I know the Dart 47 and Pencil 53 have similar specifications, but the tails are different. Could you please compare the Dart 52 and Pencil 53 for me?

Why not the Stale Fish 151 then. That's a super fun ride, carves hard and would be an easy transition from what you have now on pow days. thegoodride.com/snowboard-reviews/rome-stale-fish-2022-2024-snowboard-review/. Not sure on the Dart and Pencil because I don't know enough about how you ride, you are in between sizes, and they require specific set ups/ways to weight your turns. I'd say you are between the 156 and 160. The 160 is a good fit for your weight but the 156 for your boot size. If you want control the 156 would be the choice. If you want more float and speed the 160 would be the call. Only go 164 if you only plan to ride it in super deep pow.

Жыл бұрын
I usually set my stance as far back as I can in powder and close to reference on groomers. Like I say in the review, this is one of the only boards I would leave at reference in pow just because the tail sinks so easy that riding reference helps me plane on top a little better. It's pretty much unsinkable. On groomers I ride it close to reference as well.

Reference is where the little markers are on the front foot and back foot inserts. The Dart I owned had writing as the indicator.

@@thegoodridesnow there's nothing there now, at least on my board. Just 6 pairs of holes fron and 6pairs in back. The only writing is the name of the board, size and a quote.

Bummer. Just go up 2 holes on the front foot and then 2 back on the back foot. That should be close but it really comes down to personal preference and what feels best to you. I would go up one groomer day with a screw driver and try a few positions. Then if you have the patience to test on a pow day do the same.

How does the Dart compare to the Weston Japow? And which do you prefer?
@thegoodridesnow
Жыл бұрын
Two very different boards. Loved both but in different ways. The Japow is a board most will ride a little longer and it's a little less turny/slashy in powder. Has a faster base and is a little better in low angle pow. Dart is more satisfying on a carve (if set up super posi) but has more taper so it feels much lighter on the tail. Both float very well in pow and are pretty much unsinkable.

How does this compare to the Bataleon surfer
@thegoodridesnow
Жыл бұрын
Both float incredibly but both have a very different feel. The Dart has early rise before the nose but more of that traditional camber feel. Likes posi stance angles and likes a front foot led carve. The Surfer's TBT is very different. TBT took me some time to get used to but once I figured it out I really enjoyed how forgiving and easy it is. It really comes down to how you like to ride. @@thegoodridesnow thanks! I actually found the surfer to be a pretty good carving board but the dart looks like it’s a bit stiffer and probably a groomer slayer. The surfer doesn’t turn as quick in pow as I thought it would.

So hard to say knowing absolutely nothing about you. Depends on how and where you ride. Dart if you like a super posi stance on groomers and are ok driving a turn on your front foot. If you see really deep pow dart is the call. If you like more of a normal freeride feel in a shorter wider package or see really hard snow go Optimistic. I’m in Australia, so optimistic ( which is have , but not ridden yet ) sounds like a better option for here, but I am going back to niseko japan 🇯🇵 at the end of the year, so was wondering if optimistic would be a viable option or would I be wise to acquire a dart in addition to.

Optimistic floats very well so you dont need another board. I wpuld only consider the dart if you want something compleetly different than what you have now. Also, if you are going to Japan consider renting a Moss or Gentemstick if it gets super deep.
