Thanks for the clear explanation and your native English accent, which is a great attribute of your videos. It's hard to grasp new concepts while trying to learn a new accent.

Thanks for the video. I'm curious can val's value known at compile time if I assign it primitive type like Int? Or no matter which type of value I assign to val, it's value can only be known at runtime?

yep, the value for a val can be known at compile time, but in that case it's preferable to declare it as a const val

@@RahulPandeyrkp thx for your reply. Is there any way to know val's value is assigned at compile time or at runtime? I mean can I check that at IDE or some where? Since after I google it, there is no article talk about it. They just point out which is known at compile and which is known a runtime, but don't mention that how to know that.

Thank you! Appreciate you making these great tutorials. :) Also, wanted to ask: do you know how to make a call recorder app for Android 11? I've searched a lot but I don't see any tutorials targeting this. If you know how to make it and could post a tutorial on it, would definitely fill a void in the market. Maybe a tutorial on the lines of your previous "build x in Kotlin" series for call recording would be really wonderful, thanks!

thanks for your consistent support! I can look into the call recorder app idea, I haven't thought of that- would anything built-in to the phone work? e.g. lifehacker.com/how-to-legally-record-calls-with-android-11s-screen-rec-1845521348

@@RahulPandeyrkp haha yeah using the screen recorder is a good trick but you need to keep your phone in loudspeaker to be able to record the other party's voice, as the article itself admits. I was aiming for however an app like the "Call Recorder - Skvalex" (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.skvalex.cr). It needs root though, but once you have it, it records the calls PERFECTLY via the internal audio stream. So I was curious, if I wanted to make a similar app (with root of course), how could I go about doing it? Would be good motivation to finally build an app too!

Does var, const and function in kotlin works same way as work in Javascript ???
@RahulPandeyrkp

It's similar to javascript but the keywords are a bit different, e.g. there's no let keyword in kotlin.

Why is it "const val" instead of simply "const"? I thought kotlin was supposed to be easier to type, not more verbose. I'm fine with three kinds of variables--it's having one word, "val" being used in two different contexts that's confusing (and just stupid).
