Well, Haitians are of African descent. Haitians were brought to the island of Hispanola as West African slaves by the French. So African culture plays a HUUUUUUGE part of the Haitian culture.

Actually, it wasn't the French that brought us to Hispaniola. It started with the Spanish. The entire Island used to be a Spanish Colony. After, the Native American population got decimated by diseases brought by the Spanish Settlers, they began bringing Africans for slave labor. France gained a third of the Island after beating the Spanish at a war.

Yes this song is about Ertha P. Troulliot ( because she was leading the country under the influence of men from old regime). I am pretty sure this song was about Aristide candidacy for his first term in office. His logo was a rooster back then: " Ti kok lan chante pou Bondye ak pou lwa yo".
