The Cossacks woke up On the way from midnight The girl cried her clear eyes The girl cried her clear eyes Don't cry, don't cry, girl Don't cry, don't be sad Better than your sweetheart Pray to God Better than your sweetheart Pray to God The moon shines over the water And there is no sun A mother sees her son depart With teary, saddened eyes A mother sees her son depart With teary, saddened eyes Oh, I would love to, dear mother Come back even earlier But still, my horse is raven Stumbled in the gate But still, my horse is raven Stumbled in the gate Oh, who knows if I'll be back At what time? Accept my girl Like a native child Accept my girl Like a native child Don't cry, don't cry, don't be sad Do not fall into longing My horse Voronenky played Hope back My horse Voronenky played Hope back My horse Voronenky played Hope back

Hello from Ukraine. This is a text of the song: The Cossacks woke up before daybreak Marching out from midnight, Marusya cried her BRiGht eyes out Do not cry, Marusya, Do not cry, do not worry But do say a prayer to God for your loved one The moon is sitting above the hill, And there is no sun... A mother is sending her son on a journey with tears Good bye my dear son And do not linger In 4 weeks come back home! Oh do not cry, do not worry Do not fall into dispair My black as raven horse is rearing up Do expect us to return! The Cossacks woke up before daybreak Marching out from midnight, Marusya cried her BRiGht eyes out

Into the world rose up the Kozaks Into the world rose up the Kozaks Marching out there at midnight, Cried out her eyes did sweet dear Mary Her bright hazel eyes. Don't cry, don't cry sweet dear Mary, Don't cry, don't you worry And as for your, dear beloved Do say a prayer to God! Sits the moon above the mountain, For there is no sun... There a mother on the road sends Her dear son off weeping. Fare well dear one Oh my dear son, And you do not tarry, And do in a month of four weeks You return home safely! Oh don't cry, don't you all worry, Don't fall into dispair: Played out my raven horse Do expect us to return! Into the world rose up the Kozaks March out there at midnight, Cried out her eyes did little Mary Her bright hazel eyes.

Awesome translation. As a Ukrainian, I vouch for it! 100% very accurate even without changing the meaning of the original lyrics. Great job 🌹

You may also be interested in hopak. This is a Ukrainian folk dance that is considered the most difficult dance in the world. This dance originated from elements of Cossack combat training and cossack's martial arts 16-17 centuries but its a lot of fun.kzitem.info/news/bejne/mYhs1oaJg4Gao5w

The history of the performance of this song is linked to the communication of a Cossack with God. Inner experiences, human realities, dialogue of the Holy Spirit with the individual. Like nature itself, the element helps us. The experience of non-professionalism, sober vision of life, and sympathy for humanity for the loss of faith, love, and selfless interaction among people. I believe in the true, the best. I wish victory, love, and peace in the hearts.

The author of the words of the song is a legendary Ukrainian female song writer of 17th century Marusia Churai. All of her songs describe her personal relations with her date, a cossak Hryts. How she loved him, how she was waiting for him from the war, how he betrayed her, how she punished him (the last 2 events in the famous song 'Oi Ne Khody Grytsju'). Polish legends consider Marusia Churai to be a fortuneteller that helped cossaks to defeat their enemies.

Thanks to the author for the video, this is a Ukrainian folk song of the 17th century, in general, there are about 200 thousand folk songs in Ukraine, but this number can reach 500 thousand, a lot has been lost, destroyed and forgotten, unfortunately

its a very old Cossack song and it would b an utter nightmare to try to translate it. It is more of a poem with meanings behind whole sentences, I've seen this song performed by many, some even had subs where people translate it word for word and it's always a big MESS that sounds like a bunch of gibberish. TimeToRush proves it below ⬇⬇
