would love to see a feature on the maix amigo with crux signer, that helps you drawing your own seedQR.

That has actually been implemented on the development branch for Krux, just hasn't been included in an official release yet.

thank you very much. What do you think about Specter DIY? Can you compare it with Krux?

The hardware is quite expensive and requires assembly, though it does have a secured bootloader like with the Jade. Krux just uses off the shelf hardware.

hello. I tried to follow this video, but the maix amigo I purchased didn't work. Shouldn't it be turned on if you just connect the USB after purchase?

Would be interested to see a comparison between krux and seedsigner as they have the same design principles Also looking forward to blockstream Jade when the camera is fully supported, which promises to do evm compatible signing with qr codes

Basically Krux isn't running an entire Linux OS, so has a smaller attack surface, it also has a simpler process for verifying the files after the initial firmware flash. It also supports read/write PSBT to microSD cards. The SeedSigner allows you to store multiple seeds at the same time and the hardware can also be easily reused for piTrezor. Both use the embit libraries in the back end, both are stateless. Was there a specific difference that you were interested in?

Hello, Great video. Do you know if there's anything like this that can be used in conjunction with a Ledger to do air-gapped signing? That way, you get the air-gapped security of the Krux and the physical security of the Ledger secure element.

Basically just use a Ledger with an offline system running something like Electrum or Sparrow. (Tails, Raspberry Pi, etc)

@@CryptoGuide Thanks. I was thinking of this too because I have used my ledger with Electrum on my PC but I didn't know if it would work with Electrum on a raspberry pi. Would you consider doing a video on this, if you haven't already? With the recent ledger debacle, I think it would be useful for ledger users to know that by using Electrum on an offline device, it is possible to do air-gapped signing. So, even if Ledger releases firmware that could export their private keys, the device would not connect to the internet for the keys to get out. If they ever want to update the firmware, they can wipe the seed from the ledger, update the firmware then take it offline and re-enter the seeds and continue signing offline. If this is indeed possible, please consider making a video on it, I think it would be useful.

You should just not worry about the online device and just stick with an open source wallet like Electrum, Sparrow or whatever. If you avoid running Ledger Live, or installing any of their software on your PC, then the rest of their API is all open, so even if the vulnerability is there, there is no way to exploit it.

It's a Bitcoin only device, the only DIY option that can be used with other things will be based off a Trezor. (So piTrezor of full DIY Trezor build)

Hey I just saw this as the video ended, yes it does. Basically it will only display external addresses and any outputs that are either change or sending funds back to your addresses are not displayed at all. (Meaning that if you just do a transaction purely to consolidate UTXOs, it won't actually display any addresses at all, just show the fee) This is true even without importing the wallet

Also, the answer to your other question is yes you can verify the entropy -> seed with Ian Coleman's tool. Basically you need to tell it to treat the entropy as Hex, so the encoding is slightly different to what you would expect, but it still collects the correct amount of rolls for 128 bits of entropy. (Regardless of how it is encoded behind the scenes)
