If you really want ivermectin, just go to your local equine feed store and dose it down to your body weight. However, the equine version is by no means as safe or as effective as any of the vaccines -- there is a reason it is not FDA approved.

The real question is why are so obsessed with getting people who don't want it vaccinated? The vaccines work for those who take it, so the only risk is for those who don't. Yes, I understand that your risk falls even further if more people are vaccinated, but a small decrease in an already small risk doesn't seem worth the effort.

People think Ohio is this blood red state with no nuance. Ohio is the only state I have been to during the pandemic where I never really experienced any issues with both antimaskers in indoor areas and extremely uptight people asking to mask up while outside. Most people are worn out, but pretty much just trying to get through it. The public hysteria in either direction just never seemed to take hold for long enough to really hurt the response on a state level.

I mean, it's not unprecedented. Many trials, this one being no exception effectively as a massive Phase IV trial, offer incentives, whether direct cash or some kind of sweepstakes model. It's not necessarily a trend I'd celebrate, though. It's pretty much a more socially acceptable way of getting poor people as a testing body. At least then it's typically people who are particularly susceptible to or currently afflicted by an illness. As with a lot of COVID measures, it's an example of it more or less working out this time around, but it's a dangerous precedent to laud.

To Saagar's point about vaccine hesitant people being unlikely to be convinced at this point: I was vaccine hesitant and wanting to wait it out to see what long term health consequences might arise from the new mRNA vaccines but family circumstances forced my hand and convinced me it was worth taking the risk. So, we do exist, and we can be convinced.

@@Denise-ie2mp I've taken care of my mother for the past year. I do her grocery shopping, get her drugs and do some home maintenance. There were only two other people that visited and helped out: one of my sisters and my daughter. We have all been exceedingly careful - nobody in my extended family has been infected with COVID. I personally only know one person that was infected (my manager). It does not hurt that my state has been in the top ten states in most COVID statistics, sometimes being number one or number two. I was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago so I'm generally quite careful. I was careful before the pandemic.

Same mRNA vaccines for coronaviruses have turned out to be very dangerous to lab rats in the past. I haven’t seen any animal studies this time around. I’m waiting to see if people have long-term effects later on in life or if they get more sick than if they hadn’t got the vaccine like what happened with the animals. The group Americans Frontline Doctors have spoken out about the risks especially for vaccinating young people and I trust them because this is still experimental yet being pushed on the masses including children.

DeWine has aged well, and this idea makes perfect sense. People, especially young males, are biologically driven to hunt for the big score, especially during times of stress or hardship. States have long used lotteries to prey on this instinct for fiscal reasons. Using the lottery for public health reasons is very similar.
That is a flimsy argument, where I don't feel like taking the precautions to protect an individual's health and others in society is considered normal.
