Thank you for explaining how to free up more clutch and brake cable. The dealer says 14” bars don’t require longer clutch or brake cables but they don’t explain what you did. Thank you very much!! I liked and subscribed.

Any chance you made a video doing the cable extension?

Unless I'm misunderstanding you, there are no cables on the 2015-2021 models. Wires were long enough except one set, and I was able to purchase a 6" extension from a local dealer that they had lying around. If I'm misunderstanding you please let me know. Thanks

Nice Vid. Just tried to install my KST bars (vanguard 3 piece collection) and wiring was a breeze. However, I am pulling my hair out getting the clutch and brake lines in front of the bars and through the small plastic housing the gauge screws into. I only have 12" bars. I do see where you popped out the lines from the holder that is on the neck and may have to do that but no mention of that on KST's install vid and again, mine are only 12" bars.

Harley Davidson dealership is telling me that dominator 14 inch ape bars require wire extensions and a new cable kit for a 2020 Roadglide special. Do you know if this is true?
@BUILDEMTORIDE
3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the Manufacturer, some 14s fit with no extensions needed, and some do not. If you are looking Dominators, I think they sell pre-wired bars also, it's an added cost, but saves some headache.

No, most 14" handlebars will work with stock lines, but watch the end of the video for what must be done to free up a bit of line.

Yes, the 14+ Rushmore bikes are known to fit 14s with no line changes but not the previous models. If I remember correctly 12s is max. Get yourself a vacuum brake bleeder from Harbor Freight, and that will make the brake line swaps easier, does your cvo have hydro clutch? That can be bleed with the vacuum bleeder also.

how does the brake line bracket come apart to release the clutch and brake line? I don't see a lot of room to work in there from your video and I don't know how that bracket works. Thanks
@BUILDEMTORIDE

The holder for the lines has a cover over the top that just snaps apart like most automotive plastic line or wiring holders, generally a screwdriver will pop the cover open so you can pull the brake and clutch line free, then snap the cover back closed. Hope that helped, sorry i didnt show how it opened in the video.

@@BUILDEMTORIDE I found that if I turn the handle bars on my Road Glide all the way to the right, I can see bracket clearly standing up and looking down from the top. It was easy to remove my clutch and front brake line once I saw how they were held there. Thanks for the reply.

No sir, although I did end up tracking down small extensions later on, so I could clip everything back into the holder behind the gauge nacelle, I didn't have to to make them work, it was a more OCD thing.
