Nice review 👍 I own the KTM with techpack quick shifter is great . It is full supernaked i would call gen2 supermoto looking. Agree with most you saying. But controls and TFT is definitely better on ktm compared to Aprilia second best after bmw. Lots of people complain about indicator switch on ktm I think is OK. Fuel consumption is 100% better than Tuono . BMW is great bike and fast hands down but no character at all. KTM shake the ground monster twin. Aprilia is orchestra.

Yeah it was weird- the bike I rode was very edgy- especially on cold tyres, mind you there are many variables involved- thanks for feedback

Also think the tech pack gives you a lot more options in regards to engine braking and so on but you have to pay for it

Great review. I've test ridden the SDR a few times now, also 6'4", sat on a tuono v4 and thought it might be a bit small (No demo available) but interesting you feel the v4 is better ergo's. But now you need to get hold of a streetfighter V4 to assist the consumer...

I am on to the Streetfighter! If you are a madman the KTM is awesome- if you want refined and accessible go BMW, in many ways Tuono is best of both worlds- and fine for large rider with peg extensions and risers.

@@xodas. ahh, you have pegs repositioned on the Tuono? It felt to me my knees were getting above the tank cutouts. I liked the instant thrust on the 1290 but also could see myself getting locked up pretty quickly.

Evo A MUST. That Evo is the latest/greatest--and several testers pick the SD Evo as the daily grin machine. 44-Teeth, etc....

Don't even know what you mean by the KTM indicators, but you are also comparing a low-option KTM to high-option bikes. The Evo has a lot of suspension configurability and I believe there are something like 6 throttle modes + overall riding modes. The indicator that is just a touch switch is what I think you mean, and it takes getting used to but is 100% not an issue or a bother in any way once you realise that it's just different - with the tech pack, they are auto-cancelling as well. The Evo version just handles differently because the bike sets up its suspension for you (or you can do it manually) which both the other bikes in this comparison have. The rear preload makes all the difference and despite being the longest wheelbase, the bike becomes more flighty, less wheely-prone and more nimble. I love the Tuono, it's a fantastic bike, but as a street bike I believe (and spent my own money on) the KTM is the better overall bike. If you're doing track days and care about your overall lap times, the Tuono is the best bike of these. The M1000R just kind of leaves me cold.

Thanks for watching- yeah I’ll get my hands on an EVO and do a back to back. The indicator switchgear is a design fail of epic proportions- I rode the bike all day, and it went from bad to worse. The MR in direct throttle setting is able to create a similar feel to the v4 bikes, in its road throttle setting it is a little duller by comparison- add the Brentune and it’s a completely different ball game.
