Hey,nice video ! Could you tell me how you did manage to install a persistent volume storage solution (like Ceph for example) with this configuration? I am struggling in installing a Ceph cluster to provide block storage to my pods via PVC objects. I am interested to know which block storage (like rbd or else) solution you recommend for k8s on LXC containers :-) !

Hi Ferdinand, thanks for watching this video. I don't maintain or manage any production clusters. All my clusters are for learning and development purposes. I have only used NFS as the persistent volume storage solution so far. Hope you have watched my videos on dynamic nfs provisioning. kzitem.info/news/bejne/1aVnmqujh5-Ddn4 kzitem.info/news/bejne/opes1IWwkHaFeKA I have ceph in my to do list. I will be exploring ceph as storage solution in k8s cluster. If I get anywhere with it, I will definitely post a video. Other than that, I will also be looking at Portworx, Minio & OpenEBS for block storage solution. Thanks.

Hi, thanks for your videos man, you rock! I have a question regarding the network part, why do you need to tell the pods or containers how to reach the other networks? maybe I am missing something here but I thought the network overlay connected all the pods to the same network so there is no need to add routes, is it because you are using flannel and not other network solution like weave?. Or is it because you are implementing it inside an lxe container and every container is on a different network? I think is the latest but I am not sure... I will continue watching. Thank you again!

Hi, Thanks for the great video. Why did you prefer cent os 7 for haproxy. I would have expected a uniform os plaform. Either cent os for all or ubuntu for all. I am also hoping this question is valid. I am still going through the 2 videos at theoretical level. Lots of learning to do.

Hi Oremo, thanks for watching. I am sorry I can't remember why I chose CentOS. This was done 3 years ago. All we need is a haproxy service and that can be run on any OS.

hello , i have a small doubt here you said at 07:05 that master components of controller1 cant talk to other master etcd's , so doesn't it going to affect the application or any node coz if somehow any of the master gets down then it will affect the nodes joined with it and the cluster state can't be reachable to as etcd is also stacked with that master node. views please .
@justmeandopensource
4 жыл бұрын
In stacked approach, where an etcd node is provisioned on each master node, the etcd node can be reached only by the master components on the same node. No cross communication.
@realthought2262
4 жыл бұрын
@@justmeandopensource I was looking for the answers and found " each copy of data of cluster information is copied/sync across all the master and etcd".
@justmeandopensource
4 жыл бұрын
@@realthought2262 Yes it will be synced across all etcd nodes but no cross communication between master and etcd on different nodes. The api server can only access the etcd node running on the same node.

@@babusasidhar All you need is a set of machines to deploy k8s cluster. It can be physical machines, virtual machines or lxc containers but not docker. Docker is designed for running an application in a containerised environment. It won't replace virtual machines. Thanks.

Great vid! Bit confusing why you name your masters "controller-n" but in your talk are refering them as "master nodes". Why would you simply name your LXCs "master-n"? Just for simplicity and ubiquitous language.
@justmeandopensource
4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dzintars, thanks for watching this video. Yeah, I got used to calling them master nodes although the technically they are best referred as controller nodes. In all my k8s videos, where I provisioned a cluster, I used kmaster for the master/controller node name. But for "The Hard Way" tutorial, the scripts and commands are ready-made for controller-n naming convention. It will be easier to copy paste the commands from the documentation. Otherwise I would have to change the commands to reflect the names. Thanks.

I have one question in company how they work can you explain how the scenario comes in a companies can you make any video on it
@justmeandopensource
Жыл бұрын
Hi Matin, mostly people won't be using this hard way when deploying clusters in production. This is meant for understanding different bits of the cluster and how each of them works with each other. When it comes to production in real world, people use automation tools for provisioning clusters. They either use managed kubernetes from the cloud or use kubespray, Rancher, Kubepshere like abstraction/automation layer.
