Thank you for such a teaching experience. I thought I had an alternator problem buy now I’m convinced you saved me a lot of money, now I just have to locate the vr on my kubota L 4400. Sure wish I’d found your channel earlier.

Very useful and I like your laid back presentation style so thanks for posting. I'm about to troubleshoot why my boat engine alternator isn't charging the batteries. It's Isuzu not Kubota but those Kubota blocks are used in a lot of boat engines, super reliable workhorses aren't they...

Hey David, Yeah I find Kubota very reliable. The regulators seem to go every 10- 12 years but other than that, I love my Kubota. Cheers!

Good work, thanks for spending your time on the vid. My Kubota has a low charge and needs a kick in the morning then its ok for the rest of the day unless you use the lights then its kaput. So that's where the regulator is, now I know and will look in Feb when I next visit it.

Thank you for this video. I have an L3430 that I just swapped alternators on and am not getting any power from the alternator B post when pully is spinning (it is mounted and has good ground.) When battery attached to B post all I get is 12.6V regardless of RPM. Do you think this would be regulator? This alternator has a 2 terminal regulator plug (not 3 like in your video.) I would have thought I would still get ~14V off the B post on the alternator when engine running regardless of regulator but maybe regulator isn't telling alternator to generate any power? its a denso T-1060-15682.

Excellent George! I love hearing how my video helped people save their money. Thanks for letting us know. It's important for viewers to send a comment for people to realize how often it is not the alternator. Those Kubota alternators are worth their weight in Gold! Cheers

m7580 Kubota would stop charging after 40 -80 mins, as I'm in a remote location , I took the alternator to auto electrician.he said its fried , you can smell it,well it smelled ok to me,but took his word and purchased a new one, fitted and after two hours same charging trouble,returned alternator and told again, smell it ,its fried.replaced under warranty.fitted and again same problem, returned to same auto electrician, but he was in hospital . so I saw a auto electrician a few doors down. told him my problem and he said NO WAY CAN YOU BURN A alternator , he showed me a shelf of used alternators some 40 years of use,he spun the alternator and said feel the body,its hot ,its charging. recommended to check crossed wires with a test. battery checked twice all good ,2 years old. all ok with test, found a loose wire from alternator , replaced , replaced battery leads , seemed to work fine, but after 3 hours, battery dead. after months trying to work it out myself as it would cost me 5 hours travel for a auto electrician to come out,if I could find someone. then I replaced the ceramic resistor on the wire from alternator , Well after 18 months its all good now. battery stays charged , start stop start ,no problem, now I can grade,slash with no worries.so happy.

Okay I did the same test but when I put my voltmeter on e and F terminals I'm still getting the correct voltage so does that mean my alternator is bad? Doesn't seem likely because when it's running and I pull the negative cable off the battery it's still continues to run. Also I did not check voltage at the battery with it revved up, only at idle. Any suggestions

Check the wire coming from the ign. switch to see if it's shorted or corroded. Mine was corroded cause loss of volts at regulator. Test your regulator And wiring folks!

Usually the regulator??! You showed nothing about testing the regulator. Not everyone just has a new regulator laying around. You should change the headline to By the way I don't show how to test the regulator!
@cantletherdiediy1050

The Kubota regulator is prone to fail. The tests that I perform rule out the other components in the charging system leaving the regulator as the most likely culprit. Also, experience tells me the regulator will fail after 10-15 years depending on use. I have performed these tests twice now, once when I first purchased the used tractor (it was the regulator) and recently when making this video. I changed the regulator in this video and it has been charging perfectly ever since. Its been a couple of years since the regulator change and it is still functioning perfectly. In my experience, It is usually the regulator. Thanks for your comment Whipstaf USA.
