I liked how you pushed the dirt forward with the edge slightly up. I wondered how it was done without digging. Learned something new!

I’ve got a little BX and need to do some soil spreading and leveling. Your video helps me visualize what I need to do and some practice will help me improve my operator abilities. Which need lots of help.

Awesome Tom I'm really glad to hear that! Your not the first person whos said that either so it makes me feel really good knowing that my videos are helping people brush up on their loader/tractor skills. Thanks for watching and stay safe!

Thanks man! Yah clay is a pain to work with, it’s like trying to spread wet mud so I feel you there! We have a lot of clay in some areas but others not so much all depends where you go around here. And thanks yah it is a ton of work specially working full time then doing side work, filming, then trying to find time to edit it all and upload it, it’s good to know guys like you understand. Thanks for watching buddy!

Nice work, do you and use float for the bucket when smoothing?

I am wondering the same thing. If you watch his hand it does look like he puts it in float some times. I am sure Biff will tell us.

Thanks Ed! I do a little bit of both, if you watch my joystick hand you’ll see I like to start my bucket off at more of an angle but then I slowly curl it up as I’m back dragging which gives it a clean and even spread. Thanks for watching!

I like that you didn't use time lapse this time. I have been watching your channel quite a bit and the time lapse goes so fast I can't see how you work the FEL. This time I could see what was happening. I know some of your jobs would make too long a video without the time lapse but I would appreciate some more real-time footage so I can learn a few things from someone who knows what he's doing.

Thanks for the feedback Bryan .. yes your correct with some of my jobs being so large I really have no choice but to use time lapse which then makes me have to add music, but when I can get away with doing regular speed/sound I try to because like you, I know a lot of guys enjoy being able to watch what I’m doing and how I’m doing it. I try to keep a healthy mix of both because of this. I know some guys only like time lapse and others only like regular speed so I try to mix it up the best I can. Thanks for watching!

Were using the float function with the FEL at all or just keeping the bucket off the ground slightly to spread backwards?
@BiffsEquipment
2 жыл бұрын
Hey Andy, I always use a combination of float, no float, and down pressure.. I switch back and forth often even with in the same stroke.. sometimes I start with down pressure then switch to float.. other times I start in float and add pressure towards the end.. all depends what I’m trying to do .. I also change the angle of the bucket lip drastically depending on what I’m trying to do as well.. more angle if I’m trying to drag more material or drag out a high spot and less angle if I’m trying to smooth out some of the smaller spots.. I plan to make a video this summer going into detail how I work my FEL to help out others who want some new techniques because I use my loader a lot different than a lot of people do. Thanks for watching!

Ive seen you remove sod before with your front loader. Can you share your technique? Im being asked to spread about 3 yards of top soil in a low lying area for a friend. I was thinking of removing the sod before spreading the soil and then putting it back over the area so he wont have to go out and buy about 200 sq feet of sod. You think my idea would work? I have a box blade as well, but from my use of it, I don't think it'll be very good for removing the sod.

Hey Buck, sounds like you have a fun new job for your tractor, The sod can be pulled up but it would be very difficult, even for me it can sometimes be difficult and even when it goes right your still only going to have sod chunks as large as your bucket which means you would be left with a ton of smaller ripped and torn pieces of sod and much of the sod at different thicknesses do to the loader not being a precise sod stripping tool. It can strip sod just fine but re-using that sod specially in larger areas would be very hard. I would suggest renting a sod cutter from home depot and using that as you will get much better results and have a much higher chance of saving ad re-using the sod then trying to save it all and be gentle with the loader bucket. Also for sod to re-grow it can often be just as hard as planting new seed so you may just wanna put topsoil over the low spot and plant seed, just do it before it gets too late in the year and while the weather is still in the 70s with sun. Hope this helps man.

The holes are bolt holes. They are so you can attach different blades on the bucket.

Your right it was more or less leveling and filling low spots, if you wanna see grading go check out my driveway rebuild videos, Iv got plenty of them where I do grading with the bucket and cutting down low spots or building a crown
