hey Dave, wanna thank you very much. I watched this video that you just showed about rewiring the relay switch for the past week. I’ve been beating my head against the wall trying to figure out why my BX 2360 Kabota would not start first thing tomorrow morning, I’m going to O’Reilly‘s auto parts and get me a relay me cause I was getting ready to put it in Kabota shop. I am now a full-time subscriber to your channel. You taught me more in 15 minutes than most of the people that I’ve been watching from Kabota and anybody else that had an idea why it wouldn’t start, but you are definitely the man and I will be watching. Thank you again. God bless.👍

Dave, thank you for giving the best explanation as to the working of the solution. The wiring schematics part is an excellent addition to the actual wiring up the relay. Great job, 5 stars, thanks again.

@@deaneasterwood9849 Hey Dean, thianks for the kind words. All those safety switches and the associated wiring causes all kinds of high resistance electrical problems on these modern diesels. Adds complexity where simplicity used to rule. Have a good 'un.

Way to go man... Thank you so much for this! You nailed it. Great instruction, schematic, and bonus tips along the way. This worked perfectly for my BX23, what a joy to hear it fire up on key again.

I know this is an old post....but I want to say thanks....I have the same problem ... Going to do the same thing with mine .... A mechanic told me the problem is the wiring harness especially the safety switch wires are light weight from the beginning and getting old and worn the loose certit amps and lower voltage is carried...(Cheap wire was used) .... By looking at my MX5100 it's the same in all.... switches are cheaply made also....

Great video. Thanks! I think that my problem is the pto safety switch. Advice to replace? Need to remove rear tire and fender? Thanks, Loren

It’s been a while since I been able to watch a couple videos, been real busy in the last couple 3 years and just the other day was working on one of my kubota’s and was wondering if you made any videos in the last couple years. Remember you from the forum and watched your videos on the old Chevy trucks you worked one. Hope your doing ok and life is treating you well. I know this video is a couple years old but just thought I would comment.

wonderfully done. This man is really good. I have the similar problem on my Bx23. Where do I get the STANDARD AUTOMOTIVE RELAY and is there a specific number/type and can I get it through Amazon?

Thanks Robert. The relay is a standard automotive 12v 20 Amp relay. They are all basically the same. Most if not all auto parts stores carry them. Good luck

I bought a bx2200 a month ago, now I have a starting issue. I start it, it would start spudder for 2 to 3 second than die. There is black smoke coming out during that spudder and die. I put in the relay kit but still does the same thing. I change out the 2 fuel filter, it was pretty dirty inside but still no start. I am now, just got the kubota fuel filter upgrade mod, I just need to make the bracket as the bx2200 frame is different from the new model. I think it may be a saftey switch somewhere. I'll try to do the fuel upgrade mod first and see what happens.

A little black smoke at startup is normal, course the shuddering & dieing isn't. Changing out the 2 fuel filters is a good thing and is generally one of the main causes of your problem. Next thing to check is the electric fuel pump which is the metal filter looking device thats in the fuel line under the tractor just before the fuel filter you changed. When you turn on the key switch do you hear a "clicking" sound? That is what the fuel pump sounds like when running. If not, check and make sure the electric wire isplugged into the fuel pump. If it is and you have a voltmeter, unplug the connector and use the voltmeter to make sure it's getting around 12vDC with the key on. If it doesn't click and it's getting 12v the electric fuel pump is bad. These BX's will start and run with a bad electric fuel pump but either they'll die right off or they'll run but have no power above idle. Check that , good luck.

I do hear the clicking sound and I do get full fuel from the bleeder bolt, I just notice the little fuel line from the top filter to the bleeder bolt is crack n leaking, I will replace that line to see if that is the issue if not I will test the fuel pump.

2005 BX23, I drove it into the garage to jump my riding mower, then wouldn't start. I turn the key and get the same click you got. I try jumping the starter and the gear comes out, hits the flywheel, then stops. Is that the starter? Battery is full charge.
@davesdiyadventures848

Even tho you say the battery is fully charged, I'd still recommend to hook up some jumper cables to a car or truck ( or connect up a battery charger with a high amp starter setting) and try jumping the starter with the jumper cables directly connected to the starter terminal and your battery still connected. It's possible the starter solenoid isn't passing high voltage to the starter armature but they generally start going bad over time and don't usually totally fail all at once. Course theres exceptions to every rule. A new Kubota starter is VERY expensive. If it ends up the starter is bad I'd recommend to call a starter/generator shop to see how much they charge to repair/refurb one and I'd also check amazon. I purchased a starter for a BX23D off of amazon for under $100 but I'm unsure if those kinds of deals are still available. Good luck Dave

@@davesdiyadventures848 I got a relay. I hooked it up like you just using the colors of the wires. No start. My relay is opposite of yours as the blue is #30, yellow is #87. I couldn't see the numbers on the relay until I brought it in the house and used a magnifying glass. So I switched them, blue to the solenoid, yellow to the starter. No start. Is there a way to bypass the safety switches and test what is going on? The one for forward/reverse is buried between the frame and the linkage and the rear end(I think) I can barely see it let alone take it out to test it.
