My manual says it should be filled with 80 SAE oil. I see you used J20A Plus. Is that what your manual said or was it a guess? I find it hard to believe 80 weight oil should go in my gear/ hydrolics but that's what the book says.

I purchased the mesh filter from a Kubota dealer. I guessed with the hydraulic oil. I will say that my tractor does spit out some hydraulic oil from around the gear shifter when it gets to running temp. Now you have me wondering if the 80 sae would handle the transmission temperature better. I just use this tractor for fun and don't really ever use it to "work". I don't have a manual on this tractor. Curious to know your thoughts on if you believe the sae 80 would cure my issue.

After I posted that I did some searching and it appear that in the 80s Kubota updated their recomendations to be universal trans/ hydro fluid instead of 80 weight. So I think you're probably good. 80 SAE is apparently not thick grease but about the same as most gear oils. Thanks for the quick reply. I need to replace my reverse gear. I doubt this tractor has ever had the fluids changed, at least not in 20 years.
