This Kuchipudi dance video features Ganesha Kavutam, Brahmanjali, Brindavana Nilaye, Shivashtakam etc.
These are from the magnificent repertoire of Guru Padmabhooshan Vempati Chinnasathyam.
Ganesha Kauthuvam (Vinayaka Kauthuvam) is an invocatory one, praising and portraying different facets of Lord Ganesha. This is set to Raga Arabhi and Tala Adi.
Next comes Brahmanjali, which is traditionally performed as the Poorvaranga of Kuchipudi recital.
In this number, the performer pays respects to the almighty, Guru and the Sabha. Brahmanjali is followed by an Othukkadu Kirtana ‘Brindavana Nilaye’, which is, again, a beautiful choreography of Guru Padmabhooshan Vempati Chinnasathyam.
This number emphasizes the particular flow of the Kuchipudi movement language. The final one in this presentation is Shivashtakam, one of the dynamic numbers of Vemapti bani, which enunciates the soul of Lord Shiva, delineating his charm and vigor through different movement patterns and abhinaya.
