TITLE - KUMMATTI KALI Documentary, Thrissur
Kummatti Kali is a documentary on the art and art foam which is especially of a particular region, kizhakkumpattukara in Thrissur district. The performers wear wooden masks and sport garbs made from grass and dry leaves. It is a ritualistic dance and has its roots in Indian mythology. These heavily painting, colourful masks depicts the faces of lord Krishna, darika, kiratha, Narada, Ganapathi, hanuman. These masks are usually made out of wood from the jackfruit tree, coral tree, hog plum tree, saprophyte or alstoniascholaris. The outfit are made from a special grass called ‘Kummattipullu’, which is known to have medicinal properties. It has the stages of the preproduction, its hard labour and ritualistic procession of the performing art foam with its hunts to the historic backgrounds. This documentary followed a musical approach, All the songs used in the documentary is copyright protected.it has a special reference to the past, origin of this as ritual and its reach today.
