Your video preceded my purchase of this amp - and this amp has been brilliant and a Godsend to the many ways I can use it - either as a standalone unit utilizing it's great sounding clean channel and great character overdrive channel, or the end of the chain as part of a rack etc. This amp rules! And even bought brand new, it is still dirt cheap for what I am getting!

The BL-L-L-L-L-L sound of the reverb (sorry, it's the only description that came to my mind ... :D) comes from the fact that the reverb is based on multiple delays stacked on top of each other basically using the same (rather inexpensive) circuit as the delay (analog or digital). Apart from that, it's a really usable amp for the price ... I mean, these amps are REALLY AFFORDABLE.

I just got this Amp, as a 2x12 combo. I don't know if it is the exact same one, because this one looks slightly different, just the looks though. Mine looks like a JMOD 100😁😁 Anyway, IT IS LOUD. Frigging loud, barely usable at home, but by gently tweaking the volume you'll get there. Funnily though, I crank the treble, and keep the mids low. Ive got the bass on 4. It's a very very clean Amp, and silent as well. It goes great with pedals, but doesn't really like my wah. But I've got to adjust my wah anyway, so not a big problem. I don't know if you mentioned it, but if you get a two button footswitch, you get a boost with the second button, very nice for live use, when you got a solo coming up and have to cut through. Im not a fan of the reverb, it lacks clarity, and it doesn't change much after 4. So I use a reverb pedal. In my opinion it's a great amp for clean tones, and a good pedal Amp, luckily, that's exactly what I was going for. (nice vid BTW, love your playing! Cheers!)

Over the past month I recently joined my first band, I play lead and I'm looking for a combo amp that can clean up nice but also handle pedals well and give me that nice bluesy overdrive that we all know and love. Must also be loud enough to be heard over drums, bass etc. Would you recommend the CR120C? That's what I'm kind of set on at the moment but just wanted some of your input, thank you! Also, not sure if I should upgrade to the Celestion Greenback or Vintage 30, is there much of a difference?

Hi Dave, this is really an amazing awesome demonstration of this amp and a way to really get the musicality out of it, which is the true art, I think. Maybe you are interested in making a direct comparison of the sound of the Kustom kg100hfx head and the Orange CR120H, to hear the exact diffenrences of the clean tones and the different dirty tones, different gain stages aso. ??? Since you are obviously a guitarrist who likes affordable amps and gear in general, maybe I have a hint for you: You can use the pretty cheap Jensen C12Q or Jensen C10Q for a 4x12 or 4x10 Cab, which sounds unbelievable awesome (at least my taste), also if you use solid state amps like the CR120. Have you already tried them?

Is this amp nice for metal?, i heard ur demo on master of puppets, but would it work for a little heavier metal? What was the gain lvl when u played metallica's? thanks :D
@thedavesimpson

It does the metal thing really well yes. If you don;t crank the mids it gives you that great scooped metal sound. :)

Hey, Dave did you know that your Uncle, my Uncle everybody's Uncle "The Whack Master" Ted Nugent use Kustom amps and combos exclusively live and at home. It's also made in the usa brand. Never knew this was an american company thought it was a overseas brand. Another good review demo thought comment abit about the name Kustom and that is been used famous musicians.

Yo Dave! watched your blackstar fly amp review (and bought one based on it). Props for all your vids... which I'm working through with real enjoyment. One thing I noted is that the scumbags channel (who stole your work) will not play instead throwing a connection error...hopefully some solace for you though I'd rather youtube manned up and took the channel down. anyhoo please keep up the great work and I for my part will shout your name far and wide with my guitar playing mates.. cheers fella.

I recently tried my vox "classic rock" headphone amp into it (aux jack). Paul reed Smith Custom 24 se. I couldnt believe my ears!! I was pleasantly surprised !! Was just curious, i have a boss gt-3. And in some instances I feel lime the headphone amp gave a better result.

If it's 100 watts, do you think you could possibly gig with it in your opinion? Looking for an amp like this that isn't to bad on the wallet but powerful enough to play a decent sized venue.

Yep... also, all the tube snobs that I played with over the last 18 years, didn't came up with an amazing sound at studios. The only reason to use valves is to get that "organic" distortion. Thats it. tube or solid state on clean channel is the same thing! But to get that you need to crank up the gain. If you crank up, u cover up the rest of the band. Then u need an attenuator, or use low wattage. At the end it all seem too much trouble... It's just more simple to get a biggo cheapo solid state monster with a decent pedal... Super good playing brotherman I just ordered the newest model of this head from musicians friend for 160$.. wonder if it fair well with low tuned 7's and 8 strings? Have you tried it with a tube preamp yet? I was thinking of putting my Laney IRT pulse in front of it to see if it gives more punch

Mr.Dave Simpson. If you've never owned or played a vintage Kustom K-250-4 amp head through a stock Kustom 2x15 or 3x15 cab you haven't lived. The K-250-4 is the king of solid state amps imo Add the Fuzz channel can get very gnarly. Later bro
