You guys are so lucky, I live on the east coast just outside Washington DC and we haven’t any good places to ride for free or legal, have to travel a couple hours and usually pay $50 a day to ride, or go to a mx track and ride when they call you for $50 a day, I’m coming out to Moab in May to ride for a week and can’t wait

That was a KX450 and he is a much better rider than I am. The KX500 has less torque than the 450 but the top speed of the 500 is unrivaled. How called Oldsmobile hill ? sorry for bad English
@whatisaray
2 жыл бұрын
Here is the best quote I have read about it’s name. “Yes, I do know how Oldsmobile hill got its name, it goes back to the 1950s, there was even then people who played in the sand, but the cars they built were mostly a mix of stripped down chevy and ford cars, or pickups, with split rims, and passenger car tires, with very low air pressure. Anyway, there were also some purpose built buggies, mostly 'bucket T' body on a 'A' or 'T" frame, with a pre 1939 rearend with a torque tube, a pre 40 3 speed tranns, and a flathead ford, or occasionally a 302 gmc straight six. Remember, no paddles, the VW crowd had not started using that platform for buggies, and flatheads did not produce a lot of power, ok? So, a gentleman from Yuma, Arizona, first name Leon who was in the custom crop harvesting business, I will not mention his last name because I do not want to embarrass him needlessly, in 1954 took an olds motor out of a wrecked Olds sedan, adapted it to his t-bucket, sand buggy, put lincoln gears in the ford 3 speed, grooved the rear tires, and starting at the bottom of the hill, with a little run, did climb what became Olds hill. As far as anyone new, it was the first time a 4 wheel vehicle climbed the hill. Therefore, everyone began calling it Olds hill, because you needed an olds motor to climb it. He could also climb Comp hill, but so could the big Harley's, if they got going fast enough. True story, I know because I was just a kid, but I was there, he was a neighbor, and a friend of the family.”

Ray Burgess yeah but the 500 got more torque but the 450 got more rpm but maybe u got gear for speed and not acceleration love this type of video drag race 450 vs 500 👌🏾🔥
@VapidSlug
2 жыл бұрын
@@mcchoco1019 kx500 does have a LOT more torque. At 3k RPM it almost has more than any point in the 450f curve. Gearing would be extremely important for a kx500 because the 450f has a very flat torque curve (RPM almost doesn't matter). kx500 torque drops off a cliff at ~7k RPM so you either have to short-shift on a large hill or change the ratios.
