Will water boil faster on the mountain?
As altitude increases and atmospheric pressure decreases, the boiling point of water decreases. To compensate for the lower boiling point of water, the cooking time must be increased.
Why water boils below its boiling point at mountains?
It takes less energy to raise water to the boiling point when air pressure is lower. Because there is less energy and thus less heat at a higher altitude, water will boil at a lower temperature.
