Hi guys! Love your route plans!!! You will love Glacier...avoid weekends (but you know that already). Go to Many Glacier Lodge...sit on the outdoor deck (overlooking the lake and glaciers), while watching grizzlies and wild sheep up on the mountain to your right. TAKE BINOCULARS. Walk the path east of the Lodge, and tell Caleb to be quiet (lol) and you will spot Mama moose and her baby bedded down next to the lake!!!! I am so excited for you!!!! Just teasing about Caleb! I adore 🥰 that young man! By the way, did I spot a dog or cat out the Airstream window, walking next to your cabin???? Love you guys! Have fun. Can’t wait to go with you on the Glacier hikes! Soooo beautiful! Take bear 🐻 spray!

We just bought our first RV last year and had an incredible 2019 Season. This year we had planned to go cross-country. NH to California and back, a whole month of travel. Just as we were about to start getting serious about reservations and planning, a pandemic swept in and everything shut down. At this point, no cross-country trip will likely happen. But we're gonna do our best to get out there and make memories with the kids. Sure, it's a bummer, but we'll still do it someday. Gonna do our best to still make it a Summer to remember.

This video might be a bit too early and too cheery for those of us in the really bad states. Here in MA, we are just hitting our surge, with over 2500 new cases a day, over 200 deaths a day, Over 55,000 cases and 2900 deaths in our tiny state. We are not looking kindly at people traveling here. Everything is closed. No opening date yet. No one here really thinks this summer will be great and possible not even the fall. People are even annoyed if you come from a county with more cases to their county with less cases. VT doesn’t want you traveling more than 10 miles from home. RI has banned out of staters from coming for recreational reasons. Lost an acquaintance from NH to COVID 19.

Nova Scotia....well, unsure if you heard of the recent news in that area Marc, as 22 beautiful soles where killed by a gunman, so the Province is surely feeling sad for all the tragedy, so with your & Trish's happy faces, it sure would help to perk them up, at least a little! It's especially tough, with this Covid-19 going on, where folks can't even go to the funerals of those innocent individuals that died! I still haven't made it to the east coast of Canada, so I truly look forward to your video's there, as it's most certainly on our bucket list one day, as it's suppose to be absolutely beautiful!

Maybe, the lesson of the times is that we need not worry about doing 'epic' things, but, rather, attending to evolution's emergence. Sort of like placing the idea of having our egoic 'passions' in the compost heap and allow curiosity to emerge from that fertile pile instead. :-) Somehow, there is more humility in curiosity and it requires a kind of attentiveness to what is present that our commitment to being 'epic' and having 'passions' does not allow because we are so into doing at all costs rather than being with. Ok, Sunday evening musings to your kind hearted offering. Be well.

What a great place to go! I so hope you can make it to Nova. Can. My Dad took us there when we were little in the 70's. He read Anne Of Green Gables to us. One chapter a night. We traveled in a truck camper. We stopped in a parking lot one night read our second to last chapter and went to bed. Dad put the camper on a ferry while we slept. The curtains were closed and Dad read the last chapter to us then opened the currents, we awoke in front of Anne's house on Prince Edwards Island! What a GREAT trip we had! Hope you find this trip to be just as wonderful!Travel safe!

What app do you use to find dump stations ? I find Clinometer to be a helpful app. It's a free app that with the phone laying on it's back is a bubble level and on it's edge a standard inclinometer that can be used to measure any angle on anything. Last winter we had been researching home prices across NM with the hope of relocating there. We had planned our April May window to go look at property hoping to move in the fall. Not only is our travel plan cancelled, the bigger dream seems to be on hold also :-(

Hey guys, we are so excited that you're coming to the Maritime Provinces! We are in Saint John, New Brunswick, in other words, along your route to Nova Scotia! We are a BoondockersWelcome host if you need a place to stop in southern New Brunswick. Our BW host site is called 'The Lake House'. Okay so here some things to ponder for your trip... New Brunswick has incredible scenery all along the Saint John River valley! From the north to the south! Such places as Gagetown, Oromocto, Fredericton, Woodstock, Florenceville, Hartland all offer great views of the river. Interesting note, Hartland has the longest wooden covered bridge in the world! It's 1280 feet long and is a National Historic Site. Eventually the Saint John River empties into the world famous Bay of Fundy right here in my hometown of Saint John. The Bay of Fundy actually appears in the Guinness Book of World Records as having the highest tides in the world! Between low tide and high tide, it's not unusual for the water level in our harbour to rise 30 to 40 feet! The tides in the bay rise so quickly it will force the river to flow backwards. No where is that more obvious than at the 'Reversing Falls' here in Saint John, a set of rapids near the mouth of the river, that really demonstrates the dramatic difference between low tide and high tide. There is a restaurant at the Reversing Falls with a great view of the river. Also to be found here in Saint John is Canada's largest urban park - Rockwood Park! It's a gem, with camping, hiking trails, cycling trails, swimming and fishing galore! Saint John is actually Canada's first incorporated city and has an amazing past. Founded by the United Empire Loyalists - people who felt such a strong loyalty to Britain, they left the U.S. during the American Revolution and headed north to join the British territory of Canada! You owe it to yourself to visit one of our national parks. New Brunswick has two. Kouchibouguac NP near Richibucto in the north eastern part of the province and Fundy NP near Saint John in Alma. This is the home of the world's best sticky buns at Kelly's Bake Shop in Alma. I'd also recommend visiting Collins Lobster Shop in Alma for lobster and the most delicious smoked salmon. Okay, on to Nova Scotia. Halifax is the capital and has a vibrant waterfront with street performers, gift shops, restaurants and pubs. Kejimkoujic National Park is a paddling mecca and can be found in south western Nova Scotia. From there you should go for a drive along the south shore and visit such places as Mahone Bay and Lunenburg. Gorgeous! Along the way you'll come across the most photographed lighthouse in the world, at Peggy's Cove. Another interesting landmark near Peggy's Cove is Oak Island. Home of the centuries old 'Oak Island Curse'. I'd also suggest exploring the far northeastern end of Nova Scotia, where you'll the island of Cape Breton and the spectacular Cabot Trail. Okay, that's just off the top of my head. Hmmm, that's probably information overload...lol - Rob

We had planned to RV to Alaska during Summer 2020 (from California), but decided against that when I found out I was expecting in about November of '19. So we planned to go to beautiful Northeast Canada (Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, etc.) and take the ferry over to Maine and then head back home to have the baby at the end of the summer. I was so excited when I saw this video of yours back when you initially posted it and thought that maybe we'd meet up--but figured we wouldn't since you'd be way ahead of us cuz of the school year. Well, joke was on us all! Canada was still closed and Acadia NP ended up being our "turn-around" point. Still hope to RV to Alaska with the kids one of these days (2021 the border was still closed so we went to upstate NY again and back).

Have you ever had the pleasure of visiting Kiabab Plateau HP on the north rim of the Grand Canyon? Had that pleasure in 1967. It was beautiful then (I was 10 years old at that time). It was the last trip that my family was able to take before my father died in 68. Lots of memories. 1965 Ford pickup and a Popup camper. Mom, Dad 3 kids and my Grandmother. Three weeks from Burnet TX to Utah and back.

Mark and Trish, if you go through north Idaho, make sure you stop to see Pend Oreille lake. It is “around” Sandpoint Idaho, but makes lake Coeor d’Alene look small. If you have to stop for food, downtown Sandpoint has MickDuff’s brewing company and has excellent food, mozzarella sticks you cannot miss. Downtown Sandpoint is drivable because it used to be the highway so it’s large roads. We have been going up there every year since 1965!

Hey Marc, make sure to check Gas Buddy for diesel prices too while you’re traveling. You can change the settings and display current diesel prices just the same as unleaded. I find that you can save huge amounts of money on diesel by avoiding truck stops in favor of local stations. Savings of $0.30 to $0.40 per gallon is common. Truck stops generally seem to have the most expensive diesel fuel on the road. They’re useful for easy access, but you pay for that easy-in and easy-out experience!

Good info (AGAIN), but how do you find your diesel fueling stations when they look scarce in certain parts of the country? For example west of Denver Colorado, using the RV Trip Wizard app, there are large gaps of major stations (T/A, Loves, Flying J, etc).

Hey Mark and Trisch! Longtime followers of KYD (we're still tenting it :P ) and both of us wait for Monday evenings after work to watch. Just wanted to let you know.. provided the restrictions to travel get lifted in time for your arrival in Nova Scotia.. you absolutely must visit the Fortress of Louisburgh in Louisburgh N.S! Founded in 1713 and has been about 25% reconstructed to the original plans, lots of history and re-enactments with period costumes etc. (Take a turnip with you, there's an old lady there who will trade with you! ) Keep up the great episodes.. If you do decide to make your way to MAINE make SURE you do during foliage season. Typically October 1-15th but just depends. As fall approaches there’s a foliage predictor you can use. Beautiful here during then and the crisp fall mornings are epic!. I’ve grown up here. Never gets old!

We have had our RV for 13 years now (2007 Dutchmen T@B Clamshell), and we have been weekend warrior campers and single destination vacation campers so far. We are now planning a 3 week cross country for next March across the Southwest - Alabama - California and back. I know you said you don't reserve every night, but for some reason, I feel compelled to do so. 3 nights of our trip is a rally, so that is a foregone conclusion, but for some reason, I feel compelled to have every night reserved (and paid for in advance), I've been obsessively route planning, and searching for grocery stops every other night as our rig is tiny, so can't carry too much fresh food. The plan is to limit our travel days to around 300 miles or less, and limiting ourselves to "Roadside America" quick stops on travel days. We have several two night stops for more extensive bucket list stuff such as Grand Canyon, "the Dam Tour", Zion, Graceland. So also, in your "save money" video, you said planning was also key to saving money. I think this will work for us. Also, because I've been stalking Google Maps quite a bit, I found one of our segments routed us through a VERY windy road. Glad I caught that. Now I know to go a bit further, and stay on the interstate.

If you’re entering NB through Calais on Route 1, we highly recommend that you take a side trip to Grand Manan Island via the ferry out of Blacks Harbor. You take the entire rig on the ferry, which is a fun cruise, then go to the nearby campground. Awesome exploring and views of Fundy, in a pretty remote but civilized location. The tides there are trumped (oops, not to get political) by Homer, AK, but very cool nonetheless. Being easterners, we saw Fundy first then Homer..... After Grand Manan, you’ll also enjoy the reversing falls in Saint John. We hope Canada lets you in by the time you get there. We scuttled our trip from FL to Homer, and are considering the UP in Michigan. Thanks for all your good info!

Glacier National Park is awesome. But I'll need a new driving partner if I go clear across the country again, it's just too far to drive by myself. That's ok, I live in California, tons to explore with an easy drive. My Big Destination is usually a Science Fiction Convention, and being 100s to 1000s of people big, they are getting cancelled this summer. So this might be the summer when we have no place to go. We'll probably figure out something in NorCal, but most travel this year will be later in the fall/winter. The winter to remember? I just hope they get a vaccine that works.

If you get to take your journey,. and you work your way down the East coast, stop by for a visit. If I'm still in business, you're welcome to stay behind my bookstore for free. We're in Clarksburg, MD, on the way to DC. Free WiFi, snacks and drinks, table to work on, and many new and used books. My RV is parked elsewhere. Be well, Patrick. Novel Books

Hello from the great state of Texas... suggestion: next time you head to Texas, stay on I-40 to Amarillo again and come on down I-27 to Canyon, Texas and head east toward Palo Duro Canyon state park. we refer to it as the Grand Canyon of Texas.. come in the summer (maybe 2021) and come see the musical play Texas... IT is Fabulous..

OMG! You will LOVE Nova Scotia. We worked there for Nova Scotia Tourism several weeks a year for 10 years and we loved every minute of it. It’s on our trailering bucket list. If you want the Best of Nova Scotia list, let us know: best seafood chowder, top 10 lighthouses, top 10 must see sights, etc.

One thing about E-ZPass, different state programs offer different discounts. I have NY and save big on tolls around NYC. RI offers the Newport Bridge toll for $0.50 (down from $4.00).
