I counsel women of all ages. One thing I have learned, is that every woman has body dysmorphia of some sort. It doesn't matter how conventionally attractive a woman is....She struggles with her image in the mirror. This is why I started to really come against the plastic surgery industry. They prey on women's natural insecurities , and push surgeries instead of what people really need. I counsel a woman (who is very young) who has gotten 8 plastic surgeries and she is more insecure after the surgeries than before. We need to teach women that their value isn't in how they look.

I was a practice manager for a medspa and it was lucrative. It was the highest position I’ve ever held and most money I’ve ever made. But I walked out one day and NEVER returned (never done that before at a job either) because our head esthetician was recommending such unnecessary work for a young woman who VERY clearly suffered from dysmorphia and even she said she was in credit card debt to try and keep up with her treatments. It made my blood boil to a point where I couldn’t even vocalize my anger. I silently took the keys, placed them on the desk, printed out all of the passwords and put those on the desk and walked out in the middle of the day without saying a word. I declined and later blocked all of the calls coming in lol. I will never ever step foot in that morally bankrupt industry again. They’re preying on very vulnerable people. And it’s sick because the whole “ethos” was “women supporting women” “empowerment” “community”. All BS.

@@queenj.8i895 I'm with you (minus the religious aspect, but to each their own). While it is possible for people to avoid taking on the characteristics of whatever environment they were born into, it is still incredibly difficult to resist environmental programming. Kylie Jenner is no different. It would almost be unfair to expect her to have a grounded sense of reality given the people she's been surrounded by since she was a little girl. And so I think the best response is to approach this as a teachable moment. Are her tears genuine? Of course, and we can empathize with her in that regard. But is argument sound? Unfortunately, not even a little bit, and people are completely justified in addressing the hypocrisy of her stance.

I think my issue here is that I can absolutely believe Kylie's genuinely upset- she was in the spotlight long before she could make an informed choice about whether or not it was a good idea (she was 10 when the show premiered), and since childhood has clearly been surrounded by toxic influences when it comes to body image and beauty standards. But I also have to consider that this "breakdown" is manufactured for the camera to make her look sympathetic. She and her family are so Influencer(TM) minded that I can't take for granted that anything she says is 100% genuine, and I do not, at all, think that they (and a lot of other influencers) are above using real or faked mental health struggles to earn themselves sympathy and attention. She's an adult now, and if she really is feeling the heat from this scrutiny, she needs to dial back her public life.

Thanks for this comment. 🎉🎉🎉. We experience this. Let's be real not every woman is naturally pretty with symmetric faces and perfect teeth. We all have this insecurity about ourselves that's why we wear make up 😅. Why can't we just be honest with ourselves we are not all beautiful in that way to go make up free like men. 😂. There are some who have pretty privilege and great bodies. It's okay. And there's literally nothing we can do with people who make fun of us or bully us into changing our looks. The karjenners can cause they have money. And please fixing your teeth is a cosmetic surgery so we shouldn't make ourselves angels.😂. Accept yourself, wear your make up and look presentable people will still say "underneath all that she's ugly". Don't cover up people will still say "you're ugly" . Amen.

No woman is fully secure in their self image. It’s not a bad thing as long as you can learn to look at yourself and accept yourself flaws and all. One of our downfalls is when we let that insecurity take over and either self harm or become bitter towards others who we see as better than ourselves. When you are beautiful there is always someone more beautiful than you and when you feel ugly there are always people who see the beauty in you that is unique to you and that beauty only grows when you find comfort in your own skin. Next time you look in the mirror and think about what you want to change, think about the parts you don’t and you will find the you that makes you unique and beautiful. ❤

But what does "setting the beauty standard" even mean though? People always use this claim as an excuse to not empathize with them. Sure, they 1.) are famous and 2.) had cosmetic procedures done to look (what they perceive as) better. Do these two facts qualify as "they set the beauty standard that they are now held to"? There is a hole in the logic there. That claim would make sense if they publicly promoted getting lip filler and used their platform to tell people to get it and then later complained about being held to the standard of always having to have big lips.

I think its ok to talk about their look because THEY talk about their look constantly. They started it, they are getting rich of it so then ofc people are gonna talk about it. It would be like watching tech tips and not allowing to have tech talk in the chat, it would make no sense. You chose a toppic, people talk about it. Its that simple. Kardashians mainly have looks and drama going on, so that s the logical main thing people will talk about

It sort of reminds me of the "Oh, you're sorry *now*?" The second something isn't benefiting you in hollywood, or enough people call you out on it, it's like you have to resort to something else. I empathize with the topic but I can't help but feel that Kylie's taking this approach because her presentation of fake beauty isn't as tolerated anymore. Why now? Why not months or years ago? I guess you've got to keep societal traction somehow so now she's talking more about this side of things...

Now before yall get after me, what I’m gonna say doesn’t mean I don’t know that she’s obviously putting her life online willingly, but honestly I’ve always felt bad for her. Raised in ‘privilege’, always having her life put on air even as a child. She was raised and conditioned to believe looks were the most important part about her and where she should place her worth, which you can easily tell from the way nobody paid attention to her in the family until she was ‘pretty’ and ‘successful’. Yes, she’s put her life online and is a spoiled girl… but I would never ever want to trade lives with her. I’m already insecure just from living a normal life with parents who’ve always told me I’m beautiful and that I don’t need other peoples validation. Can you imagine what it’s like to grow up in a household that conditions you from a young age that your value is based off of how successful you are? I know she’s an adult and can make her own choices. But as another adult, I gotta say, adulting doesn’t always come with maturity… especially when the odds are stacked against you from the beginning. Personally, I blame her mom for making her family a brand instead of- you know- a family. She sold her kids privacy for fame and made them believe that was a GOOD thing. Kim K got robbed at gunpoint, and yet she still promotes herself online. To me, their lives look like miserable prisons. Yeah, they’re spoiled and are attention seeking… but as a Christian I can’t help but look at her as another daughter of god who’s so mislead about her identity. Goes to show that you really need to keep kids away from fame… or anything permanent, until they’re old enough to know what they want to make out of their life.

Rather than obsessing over the trivial matters of famous individuals, we would be better served by directing that energy inward, concentrating on improving our own lives and health. ❤

The attention and hate that Kylie has garnered over the years has never sat right with me because she was so young when she was thrust into the public eye. From the beginning I thought the whole situation was extremely unfair, I just hope that one day she will be able to be fully transparent about her experience. I think that would be truly amazing and positive for the beauty industry and social media.

That’s why I don’t want to be famous. Everyone makes mistakes but when you’re famous no one shuts up about it. Their lives seem so stressful because they have a lot of people nagging at them all the time. I can get away from people that put me down and complain but celebrities can’t. I like my quiet life, I have good friends, a good job and I have a lot of fun. I have problems like everyone else but for the most part I love my life.

Omg, this girl single-handedly revived Levi’s jeans in 2016 when athleisure wear was taking over! Jeans came back with a roar when she did that. There’s an old Canadian show called The Red Green Show. The famous line from that show was, “If women don’t find you handsome, they can at least find you handy.” This could be a good line for her: focus on her accomplishments, not her looks all the time!

They think people only talk about their looks because of the family they come from, without an ounce of self awareness that their ENTIRE value, currency, and relevancy only comes from their looks. Meaning, the only thing there is to discuss about them is their looks, which are obviously not natural. Gurl, don't act like the victim here.... you choose to be a puppet for your mom, change your entire appearance, and make bank off people's insecurities. She has options: 1. She can walk away from Hollywood and be a random person living in the middle of nowhere and no one will ever talk about her again! 2. She can stop being fake af and be open about her cosmetic journey and how non of the procedures fixed anything! 3. Grow thicker skin and accept that the criticism is part of the price tag for bring rich and famous.

People need to stop criticizing women in general about their looks. Truth is all these people talking about her would be doing the same thing in her position or with her money. She’s damned if she admits and damned if she doesn’t. So why I are we caring whether or not she tells us? It’s her life. No one has any right to judge because no one is without…. It’s sad that even the most beautiful and privileged women in the world still don’t feel like theyre god enough because of the toxic culture we all contribute too. And yes bashing her online is contributing to this culture and our own defamation.
