150kg that's a big guy! I love the way he was all dismissive of his spinning kick then gets levelled. Very clever he made him drop his guard after landing a back kick then went for the head again.

trust me that kick landed. the aligator kick he landed flush to my jaw stunned me. it was more of the back of his calf that "clubbed" me. We were supposed to fight K-1 rules but it was changed to kyokushin rules the day before. Lechi is a stud

@mrkiky lechi is real karateka...he is training traditional kyokushin..as oyama trained the others in his hombu dojo....many "Kyokushin" fighters are kickboxers and that is not karate which oyama taught!!! many of them are fighting in the ring like kickboxers in k1...but Lechi fights in ring for karate and he is fighting like karateka....OSU!

To be fair, by standup standards, he certainly did have a chance just based off the weight difference. He was less skilled, but also a lot bigger. In standup especially, the weight difference means a lot. It wasn't a bad gamble for him to take... it just didn't work out that well for him since Lechi's skill was much better.

He got hit in a really bad spot, too. Anywhere over the ear on the side of the head like that, and a 210 lb. kyokushin champ's spin kick, glancing blow or not, is gonna give you a concussion.

yeah there were no head shots, gloves, takedowns etc. allowed. It was bullshit because they said it was a K-1 match, and they changed it the day before to kyokushin rules. Like I said he was ranked 5th in the world at the time and the money was good.

Form is always important. Otherwise it's not MA and it doesn't even up to uneducated street fighting. It's not necessarily 300 years ago. If you look at Karate in the 60's (Joe Lewis, Chuck Norris, etc.), or most MA for that matter, they weren't nearly as bad as they are today. Also, I heard on golf today that training in biomechanics is "the newest athletic science available". Funny how Bruce Lee got a hold of the idea in the 60's.

I'm pretty sure he hit, but it wasn't a solid hit either. His heel caught either the back of Big Fam's head or something. It wasnt "clean", per se, but you can see the black guy's head bob. The speed of that kick is enough to send the brain inside the skull for a little ride, and that's really what matters.

If you are who you are pretending to be then answer this...why are your hands down so low (especially in close quarters) and why didnt that guy break your nose a million times because of it? Or why didnt you break his coz his hands were down quite a bit too. Are there no headshots allowed in kyokushin?

@asilentninja

agree. I guess. I mean I didnt take karate 300 years ago so I cant compare it to my YMCA black belt but yeah, what you say makes sense to me. Isnt that true of almost everything these days? But what I meant to say was this is fake fighting and so the footwork is ignored because they arent trying to get any power in their techniques.

Asilentninja, you mean to say they're not even skilled enough to use proper technique AND have proper control? Looking at tournaments everywhere, the Japanese seem to be the worst off, as if Karate weakened faster at its point of origin. I'll venture an opinion here. I believe martial arts as a whole are weakening because they're losing sight of actual martial applications. Anyone agree/disagree?

yes but if they used proper stances and footwork then the striking would hurt and cause real damage. Since this is obviously staged, they dont need good footwork coz they arent trying to get any real power. This is the japanese equivalent of the WWF everyone in Japan understands that.
