KAZUKI HITOOSA, a contemporary artist born in Kyoto, is the main character of this time.
In January 2022, she made a special exhibition work for "New Artist Selection Exhibition 2022".
The work is an installation projecting an image of plankton, the origin of life, on a semi-circular screen with a diameter of 12 meters made in the image of a one-hundredth the size of the earth.
HITOOSA began producing video works using digital technology in the late 1990s.
Since 2000, she has created interactive installations that combine video with computer and sensor technology.
She attempts to create the complex nature of the natural world through light, sound, and the behavior of the viewer.
In 2015, she won the Grand Prize at the "Rimpa 400th Anniversary Commemorative New Artists Selection Exhibition -From Rimpa Traditions to the Creation of RIMPA-" for "CARPE DIEM, Yuri" with a lily motif.
"CARPE DIEM" means "pick the flowers of the day" in Latin.
Inspired by the ancient Roman poet Horatius, who compares the days that pass by casually to the flowers of a flower garden and says that it is good to spend each day cherishing each flower. .
She also has a series of roses and autumn leaves.
HITOOSA mainly uses images of trees, flowers, and animals that he has taken himself in Sakyo Ward's Philosopher's Walk and Mt. Yoshida.
By adding animation, you can process the image to emphasize the excitement of shooting.
A camera sensor is attached to the monitor that projects the image, and an interaction is combined in which the image changes in response to the movement of the person.
By appreciating works of art accompanied by movement, the viewer may be able to draw out new thoughts.
She wants to create works that encourage viewers to cultivate their own thinking and imagination, without being bound by preconceived notions and stereotypes.
In the fall of 2022, she will present “CARPE DIEM Autumn Leaves 2022” at a special autumn visit to Konkai Komyoji Temple in Sakyo Ward.
At the contemporary art event "Streaming Heritage" currently being held in Naka Ward, Nagoya, she presents a new work of "Biosphere - KUROKAWA".
