Noriko Seguchi is a Biological Anthropologist and a Specially Appointed Researcher at Kyushu University's Faculty of Social and Cultural Studies. Her work focuses on Paleoamericans in North America and South America and their relationships with the Asian continent, such as the Jomon people. She is also researching the mechanisms for craniofacial morphology to distinguish between natural forces and selective forces of evolution. Recently, Dr. Seguchi is engaging in research exploring the issue of race and gender in the history of biological anthropology in general and in Japanese physical anthropology in particular.
今年少し一変したサイエンスサロン!今度の司会は九州大学のサイエンスコミュニケーターたち。彼らともに九州大学で活躍している先生の話を聞こう!各ゲストは九大のVision2030、すなわち「総合知で社会変革を牽引する大学」を代表する研究を行っており、自分の研究分野のだけでなくそれの隔たりを超え、新たな知見を切り開いています。
瀬口典子は九州大学比較文化社会研究院所属の特任研究者、研究分野は生物考古学と自然人類学。主に古人骨を資料として、形態の多様性と自然・文化環境との関連とその進化的メカニズムの解明、人類の拡散・移動の歴史・特に縄文人など東・東北アジア先史集団がどのように南北アメリカ先住民の起源と形成に関与したかについて研究している。また、生物学的人種概念の無効性、人種差別、性・ジェンダー差別、アイヌ民族問題にも取り組んでます。現在3次元レーザースキャナーの導入と3次元画像解析開発を研究に導入している。
