3. To Kill
So falls this night
A strange peace over Paris
A peace of blinded eyes
Of dreams without colours
That condemn to the walls
A peace of useless arms
Of defeated fronts
Of absent men
Of women already past
Cold, pale and without tears
So falls this night
In the silence
A strange glow over Paris
Over the old heart of Paris
A glow deaf to crime
Calculated, wild and pure
Of crime against the hangman
Against the dead.
