Back then, the screenplay writing had still got lots of room for improvement. U can tell the script did not make too much sense like when Cheung Ying introducing his son and in-law to Man Chi Leung when having dinner, I don’t think Mui Ka Lai was the first time having dinner there, either. But Cheung Gi Kwok helped her know what dinner meant in English. It’s just weird.
I thought Auntie Mary Wong was TVB employee only and had been working for years there, it seems like she was borrowed by RTV to do a gig for this. I’m a TVB watcher since I was a kid, I’m like most people who can’t tell which is which in RTV back then. Even Man Chi Leung, he was already known to be great before he moved to TVB, I do miss the classic he partnered with Do-Do Cheng in the mid 80’s. They were such a good fit and if he kept staying in TVB, he couldn’t have been doing a lot better than now. I guess back in the early 90’s, everyone were demanding for money paid by movies instead, I can’t blame him. But I don’t think we can have any chance to see him pair up with DoDo anymore.
