ok, i'm sorry, but do they think americans don't eat much food? every food came up they are like really, you have that in US? I mean maybe some special food americans wouldn't know, but... And plus don't they live in america? shouldn't they know if they have those in America?

I guess it is more about allowing the targeted Chinese audience to gaining an insight into cultural difference between US and China. Since food is one of the most important culture in China, this would be the part most Chinese audiences interested in. By asking simple questions like "Do u have this in US" , the audience will quickly learn American lifestyle (food-wise) and how it differs from China. Regardless, due to geographical difference, the eating habit is very different in two countries so I think this type of question is more aimed in informing rather than something else.
