Hey Mr Ben i love your tutorials but, I'm stuck on a problem ... I have 5 mins in my sequence that I want to keep but there is a blank space of 55 mins ... every time I export my video, the duration is one hour long and I only want the first 5 mins...How do i get rid of that extra unwanted 55mins of time... I have spent 10 hours of research trying to find the answer!!! Is there a tutorial that I can watch that can tell me how to cut out the ends or beginnings????👽

Hello DjDennis, Set an “IN” where you want the video to start and an “OUT” where you’d like it to end in your timeline. Then in the export settings hit the checkbox that reads “use marks.” This will export only that selected region in your timeline for export. Respectfully, Prof. Harris

Thanks for the lesson! I have a question about selecting a frame rate at the beginning. Should I choose the frame rate based on the footage I have or based on what the final export will be? When working on documentaries I usually have multiple video sources with different frame rates (interviews may be shot at 24fps, while news clips or even gameplay will be shot at 30fps or 60fps). In that case which frame rate should I choose?

Hi JulianEdits, It depends on the final delivery/destination. You should reach out in advance/research in advance to determine the delivery requirements for your project. If a news station can only broadcast in 1080p at 24fps, than there is no reason to record your project in 4K at 60fps. It will slow down your processing speeds in Avid, and fill your hard drives unnecessarily. 🫡 Respectfully, Prof. Harris

Is there a way you can ‘Match source’ in Avid? In Premiere, when setting up a project, I just click ‘Match source’ so the settings match the footage I’m going to be using. I hate dealing with settings. I’m always paranoid I’m going to ruin something 😂

Hi Consumedata4544, Yes. There is a checkbox in the setup window for a new project that simply reads "choose for me." When you import footage to the project and create your first sequence, the project should match the source footage. Respectfully, Prof. Harris
