L3Harris LA5 UHP (ultra high power) Overview
Here we continue our laser series with the L3 UHP (ultra high power). Our goal is to show how different laser products perform under night vision and the pros & cons of each unit. This is our second video of a four part series. **Two things to note: First what we call “cqb” mode is a low power laser / high power illuminator. To clarify, in most lighting conditions you would use the dual low setting. The low laser / high illuminator setting is designed to be used in areas with high ambient light where the illuminator needs to break the environmental photonic barriers, at short distances, where a high power laser would bloom terribly. An example of this would be an urban environment or extremely bright nights with large amounts of moonlight. This allows you to retain a usable laser to aim but have the juice needed on the illuminator to overpower environmental conditions. Second thing to note, in the video when we are displaying settings with the high power illuminator the laser is barely visible. This is because the illuminator is so powerful that the camera cannot make out the laser. However, in person under nods the laser is completely visible in both modes.
