I love working with primitive traps. When I went to a State Trapping Certification Class however, they did nothing but down them as worthless and many times illegal as well. I still enjoy practice with them. Never know when that day comes when I'll need them for real.

Simple design which is perfect for snares. Ive seen some elaborate stuff and as cool as it is, its a pain when setting up multiple snares. You always want multiple snares. The easier the design, the more you can make, the more chances to catch your next meal.

Dave, I've watched you before YT, point being I've followed you and have learned so very much from you. I know u have to keep your secrets for your classes. Totally get that. Just want you to get you yourself to go watch some of your first year or 2 videos. Everything then was poor man's this, poor man's that. Fast forward to today..you are a GOD in the bushcraft community. And know you tailor your videos to the rich man.. I'm glad you are successful and your hardwork is paying off. Except most of America is still poor and even more so now than when u started. Personally, I feel you should share all your knowledge with everyone because of a few reasons. #1, you are a legend, first and foremost. When you are gone your products and services will still always be on top. #2, the USA is no longer a top country, we are falling and alot of people are going to die. You have the platform to help millions and millions of people . The rich will buy what they need, like you, but the 100s of millions of others WILL NEED YOUR KNOWLEDGE TO SURVIVE, NOT THRIVE, SURVIVE, as you know, the world's issues... I won't go there. Just wanted to say thank u for all the knowledge you have shared over the decades. May God Bless US ALL!

Not sure what was rich man about a video show how to make a trap out of stick and a bit of string. I find most the gear they sell is reasonable priced. His books are cheap enough might even be able pick some up second hand.

Here in Wyoming, if your housecat strays off your proppity, it’s classified as a varmint. I’ve trapped and shot a lot of Tabbys over the years. “I wonder what happened to Oscar. He didn’t come home this morning.” Haha

Im sure Dave wont see this, but i used to watch these videos from Dave years ago and dreamt about building a home somewhere with lots of trees. i was in a miserable situation and it took about 7 years but i finally found the courage to do it, and last year at this time i was shaving bark of pines and today i live in a tipi spending my days crafting anything within limits of imagination and working for my own heat, and starting to delve into trapping again with a real purpose. I just wanted to say thank you for the inspiration and teachings from the bottom of my heart. And if anyone else feels the same about making a lifestyle change, go for it! it was the best choice i have made in my life

Thought about you showing various scenarios with L7 and realized that the trap could be set for fish, and animals on the bank at the same time. Better use of resources…..since snares are hit and miss at best, having to create all the parts why not double your odds of getting something… if you double your odds, you could set up half as many traps if time is a factor…this would save time building parts for these traps.. thanks for sharing
