Magnifique architecture qui révèle, avec ce "modeste bâtiment", tout l'art de la charpenterie de marine. Merci pour le partage.

Very well done , a great deal of work has gone into this reproduction . I read somewhere that it took the wood from 3000 trees to build a large warship of this period . Seeing this I can well believe it .

To build the city Venice took 10 million trees! To support St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice, 1 million trees! That's why some parts of Europe, the forest still hasn't recovered yet!

Someone ask for the type. She's a Brigantine, two square sail bearing mast with fore and aft mast bearing latine sails. She's merchantman. Her historical significance is that she was part of the fleet of La Salle, a French explorer who founded a small French colony on the Coast of Texas. It caused a diplomatic issue with Spain before being evacuated. The colony is part of why Texan say that "Six Flags" have flown over the state.

A "Barque longue." This type was usually thre-masted and flush-decked. Smaller than later sloop of war or light frigate.
