Wierd Trivia: That East German helmet was designed in the late stages of WW2 as a way to cut costs from the Stahlhelm pattern by using a simpler pattern that wasted less steel.
@reeyuh526
5 ай бұрын
It's also probably the best steel helmet made. No steel helmets were designed to stop direct hits from bullets, must fragmentation or ricochets. The previous stalhelm or the US M1 at best stop low velocity rounds like .45 ACP. The Warsaw Pact helmets have best resistance due to most of their designs incorporating a slope, allowing some of them to stop even higher velocity rounds like 9mm or .357 magnum. The East German however has the most extreme angle, that with the right tempered steel, some helmets have resisted direct hits from AK47 rounds, at the very least, they all stopped 7.62 Tokarev rounds. If anyone doesn't find the Tokarev resistance impressive, just know that some modern kevlar helmets today still can't stop that round. It's got ridiculous penetration capability.

First thought was steel shot inside, extra fun times for the target. And I'll agree, I prefer seeing the slow motion shots with the regular motion shots so it's easier to analyze what happened on target. I wouldn't mind if you compiled them at the end to pad out run times to make yt happy, as long as they're also where they've traditionally been in the video.

Given that the vessel is a thinwalled lead shell, I imagine it's not going to be easy to get decent combustion out of smokeless. Smokeless needs quite a bit of pressure for it to burn properly. You might get it to pop a few times, but most of the energy you put into the charge will just be wasted. The burn rate of black powder isn't pressure-dependent. It'll go bang even if the container is made out of paper.

The design of the East German helmet came from the last new helmet design for the Wehrmacht introduced in 1945, the M45. It further has some disadvantages, it was too wide at the side to sneak through narrow spaces or barbed wire. .

I think that, if you're going to go through the trouble of packing the slug with flash powder or something (capped off with a primer), then you might as well add something atop the slug that can fragment and cause some substantial secondary damage upon impact. Since this is a really large/heavy slug design, I'd like to see a version of the slug that is actually two pieces that stack or thread together. The bottom (base) portion should have a cavity and a hole for the primer, while the top is contoured for aerodynamics. It might need a hardened pin/screw/whatever bedded in the top portion (to ensure primer detonation) but that could likely be accomplished with just the lead. When you get projectiles like that that have cavitation towards the front with a solid rear, it is inherently going to be more susceptible to aerodynamic inconsistencies (like the wobble we saw here.) So if you can move the charge cavity to the middle or rear of the projectile, it will have enough mass forward of the COM that it should stabilize dynamically. Having the charge towards the rear of the projectile can also cause the gasses to push outward on the thinner walls (of the base of the projectile) and expand/fragment while still in the body. When you have the secondary explosion towards the front of the projectile, it will expand/fragment at the back of the target, if not outside in of the body. Basically, moving the charge to the back of the projectile will make it detonate closer to the entry point rather than the exit. That way, the forward momentum of the projectile and secondary detonation carry through the body earlier, increasing overall damage. Now, I've never actually tested this hypothesis myself. I don't really have the resources to conduct such an experiment myself at the moment. But I think that could make for a stellar experiment. In my mind, the internal charge being at the front of the projectile means that it will detonate closer to the exit than the entry, clearing a small hole towards the back upon exit. If you can prime the charge at the same moment, but have the actual cavity positioned at the rear of the projectile, then you'll have the secondary detonation closer to the entry point and have more time after the detonation inside the body for the drag/shock to damage the internals.

64gig Hard drive space always is increments of an octet (8s) 8,16,32,64 etc And those things he pointed at on the “green board” are mosfats. They’re for power stabilization

Jeff and OG mentioned the slug as "La Bamba" which is a wedding song. The title on the video says that it is a " La Bomba." which refers to a bomb or an explosive. Great video Guys!

Fun fact, those *6* boxes you were pointing to on the back of the drive are for power delivery. Ya know, on the pcb board (but I like green board too) And yes, they're platters.

If you could get those to stop tumbling, slip a .22 long rifle round into it, you would have the perfect gift that keeps on giving. A bullet that shoots back at the shooter.

I remember interviewing for a job at the hard drive factory back in the 90's; most of the questions I had to answer on a big greenboard; they just scaled the solutions down a bit for production.

The hole in the front of a shotgun slug has always been the same size as a #209 primer. I never thought it was a coincidence. Fun fact. Old fashioned aluminum arrows are the same size, too.

For the explosive filler, next I'd try grinding tannerite into a fine powder and packing it in there. In a confined space, a primer is enough to set it off. HE slug!
