Wow this looks amazing. I love how there is so many different ways to use the cards depending on where you place the card under your board.

I am resonating what others have said but felt the same and disappointed enough to do so. This run through got me so excited, it is exactly our sort of game! Then looked for it and drew blanks :( Richard this is almost not fair :( but thanks anyway. I will continue to look out for it. Let's hope they do a reprint soon and more than 1000...

Spectacular Review, Thank you! I noticed in an early round, when Jen had no enhancements on the right side. You had her make two or three deliveries on Phase 3 step 3 (transportation). It might be on your extended game play. Is that a mistake or do I misunderstand the rules?

"La Granja" means "The Farm", so I doubt it's the name of the nearby town :) And Google says it's pronounced "Grankha".

THANK YOU this was killing me. I almost refused to watch this video altogether because of that @CySquiddy The letter J is pronounced a bit differently in different accents. Pretending it's an H would be easiest for most english-speakers, but in some accents (much of Spain, for example) it's a little harder - kinda like KH

Looks like a good game, almost convinced...until the pig slaughter. Why must there always be animal slaughter in these farm games? Yes, it happens on real farms but it's 2015: not everyone eats meat or needs to see this in a game. We'd rather keep the pigs as pets. My wife will never ever use this part of the game, even if it's strategically viable. Wonder if avoiding that aspect will hurt the game balance.
@rahdo
9 жыл бұрын
+shatnershairpiece hmm, there's so much flexibility with how you use your cards, i think you could definitely make a go of avoiding slaughter altogether. it just means that some of the cards you draw you might have to ignore the 'delivery ham to town' function and use them for something else :)
@Shauneroo

+shatnershairpiece I've been a vegetarian for close on 30 years. I would have no problem in slaughtering pigs in this game (which I received for Xmas today), because, y'know, it's a game.
@shatnershairpiece
8 жыл бұрын
+Shaun Gratton that's nice, but not everyone can detach from themes they detest. We also have a pet pig, so pig slaughter doesn't make us go "Let's play this game!" Games are supposed to be fun, giving incentive to play - not unpleasant reminders of what we don't agree with in our daily lives.

@shatnershairpiece

+Shaun Gratton They do! Because we play the games we actually like to play with the themes we enjoy. If more people spoke out about the themes in games and the distasteful mechanics, maybe designers would stop putting them in. There is absolutely ZERO reason to have animal slaughter included as a game mechanic in 2015. We sold la granja, not for that aspect, but because we thought the game wasn't very good. I used the money to buy our pig a sweater.

Oh man. I literally hurt my face a little cringing so hard when I heard, "I think this is the nearby town of 'La Gran(j)a.'" I enjoy your videos, but you HAVE to do a little research every once in a while to not sound so foolish.

i'm always surprised that some folks respond so strongly to this. i never get bothered when a non-native english speaker radically mispronouces an english city name, for instance. even a city i live in and love, like seattle...

rahdo i dont think he is refering to the pronunciation, granja means farm. Its It's like saying the city of farm.
@UsernamePending008

@@bernardoecaI did some quick research and there are places around the world that are named "La Granja". There is a commune in Chile that goes by that name; San Ildefonso in Spain is also known as La Granja or La Granja de San Ildefonso. So, he is not entirely wrong. The issue lies with the creators and their intention, where they referring to and actual place called "La Granja" or did they choose the name to represent the theme "the farm".
@bernardoeca
5 жыл бұрын
@@UsernamePending008 I'm sure they are. They will also be in Spain or former Spanish colonies, and the reason they are called Granja something is that they were farmlands that grew to something else.
