I never knew this play existed until I was singing "Impossible Dream" one day and decided to look up its history. I love that song, and I love Don Quixote, so I knew I had to watch it. Such a delightful performance! One of my favorite things about this story is that he not only tries to see the best in the world, but he inspires the world see the best in itself. It's something the people of today could really use.

Very nicely done. This moving play has been one of my favorites since I saw a production with Richard Kiley, who originated the role, in the lead. Several years again I was at another performance with Hal Linden playing the lead. I really enjoyed this presentation and wonderful performances.

WOW. This was absolute perfection. I am speechless and blown away. I have listened to the original Broadway Man of la Mancha on Broadway soundtrack many times and I can say that this Aldonza sings better than Joan Diener. Don Quixote was also done very very well here, but of course no Richard Kiley. Bravo all of you!

Aldonza would be no older than 25, so don't sweat it. She's cynical, not old. A wonderful soul, tortured with a horrible youth, and Don Quixote offers her a way out - and she takes it.
@lilaandmel

Shawn Nelson in the source material, Cervantes’ Don Quixote, Aldonza Lorenzo’s age is never mentioned. Joan Diener was 35 when she originated Wasserman’s Man of La Mancha and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio was 44 when she played the role in the award-winning Broadway revival. One of the beautiful things about this role is that it is not one that is defined by age (something very rare for women in the entertainment industry). I also do have to take umbrage at your insinuation that there is “25 and under” and “old”.

It's quite good, but very slow. To give you an idea, it should be 15 minutes shorter. This padre is very nice, but the song goes faster, and it would have been easier for him to sing, as well. The musical director and the director didn't make it happen. Quality production values.

I played Sancho Panza several times ... 1982 NYU, 1983 NY, 1984 Zeiterion Theater New Bedford Mass, 1988 ... in 1984 the director kept us on stage the entire time!!! ... of course, Don Q and I entered the dungeon from the long staircase after the overture .... after that... never left the stage ... it was annoying ... I don't recall if we had an intermission or not. All that aside... the director didn't understand my comic bits ... until I received a great review... then it was an ok experience.
